עַל־ against ‘al- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm וְעַ֖ל and against wə·‘al עַבְדּֽוֹ׃ His servant ‘aḇ·dōw יְחִזְקִיָּ֥הוּ Hezekiah . yə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū 2 Chronicles 32:17 כָּתַ֔ב He also wrote kā·ṯaḇ וּסְפָרִ֣ים letters ū·sə·p̄ā·rîm לְחָרֵ֕ף mocking lə·ḥā·rêp̄ לַיהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וְלֵֽאמֹ֨ר and saying wə·lê·mōr עָלָ֜יו against Him : ‘ā·lāw לֵאמֹ֗ר . . . lê·mōr כֵּֽאלֹהֵ֞י “ Just as the gods kê·lō·hê גּוֹיֵ֤ of the nations gō·w·yê הָאֲרָצוֹת֙ . . . hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer לֹא־ did not lō- הִצִּ֤ילוּ deliver hiṣ·ṣî·lū עַמָּם֙ their people ‘am·mām מִיָּדִ֔י from my hand , mî·yā·ḏî כֵּ֣ן so kên אֱלֹהֵ֧י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יְחִזְקִיָּ֛הוּ of Hezekiah yə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū לֹֽא־ will not lō- יַצִּ֞יל deliver yaṣ·ṣîl עַמּ֖וֹ His people ‘am·mōw מִיָּדִֽי׃ from my hand . ” mî·yā·ḏî 2 Chronicles 32:18 וַיִּקְרְא֨וּ Then [the Assyrians] called out way·yiq·rə·’ū בְקוֹל־ loudly ḇə·qō·wl- גָּד֜וֹל . . . gā·ḏō·wl יְהוּדִ֗ית in Hebrew yə·hū·ḏîṯ עַל־ to ‘al- עַ֤ם the people ‘am יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer עַל־ were on ‘al- הַֽחוֹמָ֔ה the wall , ha·ḥō·w·māh לְיָֽרְאָ֖ם to frighten lə·yā·rə·’ām וּֽלְבַהֲלָ֑ם and terrify them ū·lə·ḇa·hă·lām לְמַ֖עַן in order lə·ma·‘an יִלְכְּד֥וּ to capture yil·kə·ḏū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעִֽיר׃ the city . hā·‘îr 2 Chronicles 32:19 וַֽיְדַבְּר֔וּ They spoke way·ḏab·bə·rū אֶל־ against ’el- אֱלֹהֵ֖י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim כְּעַ֗ל as they had spoken against kə·‘al אֱלֹהֵי֙ the gods ’ĕ·lō·hê עַמֵּ֣י of the peoples ‘am·mê הָאָ֔רֶץ of the earth — hā·’ā·reṣ מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה the work ma·‘ă·śêh הָאָדָֽם׃ס of human hā·’ā·ḏām יְדֵ֥י hands . yə·ḏê 2 Chronicles 32:20 עַל־ In response ‘al- זֹ֑את . . . , zōṯ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ King ham·me·leḵ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ Hezekiah yə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū הַנָּבִ֖יא and the prophet han·nā·ḇî וִֽישַֽׁעְיָ֧הוּ Isaiah wî·ša‘·yā·hū בֶן־ son ḇen- אָמ֛וֹץ of Amoz ’ā·mō·wṣ וַֽיִּזְעֲק֖וּ cried out way·yiz·‘ă·qū הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃פ to heaven haš·šā·mā·yim וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֞ל in prayer , way·yiṯ·pal·lêl 2 Chronicles 32:21 יְהוָה֙ and YHWH Yah·weh וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח sent way·yiš·laḥ מַלְאָ֔ךְ an angel mal·’āḵ וַיַּכְחֵ֞ד who annihilated way·yaḵ·ḥêḏ כָּל־ every kāl- גִּבּ֥וֹר mighty man gib·bō·wr חַ֙יִל֙ of valor ḥa·yil וְנָגִ֣יד and [every] leader wə·nā·ḡîḏ וְשָׂ֔ר and commander wə·śār בְּמַחֲנֵ֖ה in the camp bə·ma·ḥă·nêh מֶ֣לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ אַשּׁ֑וּר of Assyria . ’aš·šūr וַיָּשָׁב֩ So he withdrew way·yā·šāḇ לְאַרְצ֗וֹ to his own land lə·’ar·ṣōw בְּבֹ֨שֶׁת in disgrace bə·ḇō·šeṯ פָּנִ֜ים . . . . pā·nîm וַיָּבֹא֙ And when he entered way·yā·ḇō
