אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer כָּֽרָה־ he had cut out kā·rāh- לוֹ֮ for himself lōw בְּעִ֣יר in the City bə·‘îr דָּוִיד֒ of David . dā·wîḏ וַיַּשְׁכִּיבֻ֗הוּ They laid him way·yaš·kî·ḇu·hū בַּמִּשְׁכָּב֙ on a bier bam·miš·kāḇ אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ’ă·šer מִלֵּא֙ was full of mil·lê בְּשָׂמִ֣ים spices bə·śā·mîm וּזְנִ֔ים and various ū·zə·nîm מַעֲשֶׂ֑ה blended ma·‘ă·śeh מְרֻקָּחִ֖ים perfumes ; mə·ruq·qā·ḥîm בְּמִרְקַ֣חַת . . . bə·mir·qa·ḥaṯ גְּדוֹלָ֥ה then they made a great gə·ḏō·w·lāh עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- לִמְאֹֽד׃פ . . . lim·’ōḏ וַיִּשְׂרְפוּ־ fire way·yiś·rə·p̄ū- ל֥וֹ lōw שְׂרֵפָ֖ה in his honor . śə·rê·p̄āh 2 Chronicles 17:1 בְּנ֖וֹ Asa’s son bə·nōw יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט Jehoshaphat yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ reigned way·yim·lōḵ תַּחְתָּ֑יו in his place , taḥ·tāw וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֖ק and he strengthened himself way·yiṯ·ḥaz·zêq עַל־ against ‘al- יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel . yiś·rā·’êl 2 Chronicles 17:2 וַיִּ֨תֶּן־ He stationed way·yit·ten- חַ֔יִל troops ḥa·yil בְּכָל־ in every bə·ḵāl הַבְּצֻר֑וֹת fortified hab·bə·ṣu·rō·wṯ עָרֵ֥י city ‘ā·rê יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וַיִּתֵּ֤ן and put way·yit·tên נְצִיבִים֙ garrisons nə·ṣî·ḇîm בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וּבְעָרֵ֣י and in the cities ū·ḇə·‘ā·rê אֶפְרַ֔יִם of Ephraim ’ep̄·ra·yim אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer אָבִֽיו׃ his father ’ā·ḇîw אָסָ֥א Asa ’ā·sā לָכַ֖ד had captured . lā·ḵaḏ 2 Chronicles 17:3 יְהוָ֖ה Now YHWH Yah·weh וַיְהִ֥י was way·hî עִם־ with ‘im- יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט Jehoshaphat yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ כִּ֣י because kî הָלַ֗ךְ he walked hā·laḵ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים in the earlier hā·ri·šō·nîm בְּדַרְכֵ֞י ways bə·ḏar·ḵê אָבִיו֙ of his father ’ā·ḇîw דָּוִ֤יד David . dā·wîḏ וְלֹ֥א He did not wə·lō דָרַ֖שׁ seek out ḏā·raš לַבְּעָלִֽים׃ the Baals , lab·bə·‘ā·lîm 2 Chronicles 17:4 כִּ֠י but kî דָּרָ֔שׁ he sought dā·rāš לֵֽאלֹהֵ֤י the God lê·lō·hê אָבִיו֙ of his father ’ā·ḇîw הָלָ֑ךְ and walked hā·lāḵ וּבְמִצְוֺתָ֖יו by His commandments ū·ḇə·miṣ·wō·ṯāw וְלֹ֖א rather than wə·lō כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה the practices kə·ma·‘ă·śêh יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl 2 Chronicles 17:5 יְהוָ֤ה So YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּ֨כֶן established way·yā·ḵen הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ the kingdom ham·mam·lā·ḵāh בְּיָד֔וֹ in his hand , bə·yā·ḏōw כָל־ and all ḵāl יְהוּדָ֛ה Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וַיִּתְּנ֧וּ brought way·yit·tə·nū לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט him lî·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ מִנְחָ֖ה tribute , min·ḥāh וַֽיְהִי־ so that way·hî- ל֥וֹ he had lōw לָרֹֽב׃ an abundance lā·rōḇ עֹֽשֶׁר־ of riches ‘ō·šer- וְכָב֖וֹד and honor . wə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ 2 Chronicles 17:6 לִבּ֖וֹ And his heart lib·bōw וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ took delight way·yiḡ·bah
