כֵ֔ן right . ḵên מִמִּגְדַּ֥ל From watchtower mim·miḡ·dal נוֹצְרִ֖ים . . . nō·wṣ·rîm עַד־ to ‘aḏ- מִבְצָֽר׃ fortified miḇ·ṣār עִ֥יר city , ‘îr וַיִּבְנ֨וּ they built way·yiḇ·nū לָהֶ֤ם lā·hem בָּמוֹת֙ high places bā·mō·wṯ בְּכָל־ in all bə·ḵāl עָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם their cities . ‘ā·rê·hem 2 Kings 17:10 וַיַּצִּ֧בוּ They set up way·yaṣ·ṣi·ḇū לָהֶ֛ם for themselves lā·hem מַצֵּב֖וֹת [sacred] pillars maṣ·ṣê·ḇō·wṯ וַאֲשֵׁרִ֑ים and Asherah poles wa·’ă·šê·rîm עַ֚ל on ‘al כָּל־ every kāl- גְבֹהָ֔ה high ḡə·ḇō·hāh גִּבְעָ֣ה hill giḇ·‘āh וְתַ֖חַת and under wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ כָּל־ every kāl- רַעֲנָֽן׃ green ra·‘ă·nān עֵ֥ץ tree . ‘êṣ 2 Kings 17:11 וַיְקַטְּרוּ־ They burned incense way·qaṭ·ṭə·rū- שָׁם֙ . . . šām בְּכָל־ on all bə·ḵāl בָּמ֔וֹת the high places bā·mō·wṯ כַּגּוֹיִ֕ם like the nations kag·gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh הֶגְלָ֥ה had driven out heḡ·lāh מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם before them . mip·pə·nê·hem וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ They did way·ya·‘ă·śū רָעִ֔ים wicked rā·‘îm דְּבָרִ֣ים things , də·ḇā·rîm לְהַכְעִ֖יס provoking lə·haḵ·‘îs אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH {to anger} . Yah·weh 2 Kings 17:12 וַיַּֽעַבְד֖וּ They served way·ya·‘aḇ·ḏū הַגִּלֻּלִ֑ים idols , hag·gil·lu·lîm אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer יְהוָה֙ although YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֤ר had told ’ā·mar לָהֶ֔ם them , lā·hem לֹ֥א “ You shall not lō תַעֲשׂ֖וּ do ṯa·‘ă·śū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּֽה׃ this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֥ר thing . ” had·dā·ḇār 2 Kings 17:13 בְּיַד֩ Yet through bə·yaḏ כָּל־ all kāl- נְבִיאוֹ His prophets nə·ḇī·ʾō כָל־ [and] ḵāl חֹזֶ֜ה seers , ḥō·zeh יְהוָ֡ה YHWH Yah·weh וַיָּ֣עַד warned way·yā·‘aḏ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל Israel bə·yiś·rā·’êl וּבִיהוּדָ֡ה and Judah , ū·ḇî·hū·ḏāh לֵאמֹ֗ר saying , lê·mōr שֻׁ֝֠בוּ “ Turn ḇū הָֽרָעִים֙ from your wicked hā·rā·‘îm מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֤ם ways mid·dar·ḵê·ḵem וְשִׁמְרוּ֙ and keep wə·šim·rū מִצְוֺתַ֣י My commandments miṣ·wō·ṯay חֻקּוֹתַ֔י and statutes , ḥuq·qō·w·ṯay כְּכָ֨ל־ according to the entire kə·ḵāl- הַתּוֹרָ֔ה Law hat·tō·w·rāh אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer צִוִּ֖יתִי I commanded ṣiw·wî·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם your fathers ’ă·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ - wa·’ă·šer שָׁלַ֣חְתִּי and delivered šā·laḥ·tî אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם to you ’ă·lê·ḵem בְּיַ֖ד through bə·yaḏ עֲבָדַ֥י My servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏay הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ the prophets . ” han·nə·ḇî·’îm 2 Kings 17:14 וְלֹ֖א But they would not wə·lō שָׁמֵ֑עוּ listen , šā·mê·‘ū וַיַּקְשׁ֤וּ and they stiffened way·yaq·šū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עָרְפָּם֙ their necks ‘ā·rə·pām כְּעֹ֣רֶף . . . kə·‘ō·rep̄ אֲבוֹתָ֔ם like their fathers , ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām אֲשֶׁר֙ who ’ă·šer
