אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ approached way·yig·gaš כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָ֗ם the people hā·‘ām וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said , way·yō·mer עַד־ “ How long ‘aḏ- מָתַ֞י . . . mā·ṯay אַתֶּ֣ם will you ’at·tem פֹּסְחִים֮ waver pō·sə·ḥîm עַל־ between ‘al- שְׁתֵּ֣י two šə·tê הַסְּעִפִּים֒ opinions ? has·sə·‘ip·pîm אִם־ If ’im- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ is God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm לְכ֣וּ follow lə·ḵū אַחֲרָ֔יו Him . ’a·ḥă·rāw וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- הַבַּ֖עַל Baal [is God] , hab·ba·‘al לְכ֣וּ follow lə·ḵū אַחֲרָ֑יו him . ” ’a·ḥă·rāw הָעָ֛ם But the people hā·‘ām אֹת֖וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw וְלֹֽא־ did not wə·lō- עָנ֥וּ answer ‘ā·nū דָּבָֽר׃ a word . dā·ḇār 1 Kings 18:22 אֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙ Then Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- הָעָ֔ם the people , hā·‘ām אֲנִ֞י “ I ’ă·nî לְבַדִּ֑י am the only lə·ḇad·dî נוֹתַ֧רְתִּי remaining nō·w·ṯar·tî נָבִ֛יא prophet nā·ḇî לַיהוָ֖ה of YHWH , Yah·weh הַבַּ֔עַל but Baal [has] hab·ba·‘al אַרְבַּע־ four ’ar·ba‘- מֵא֥וֹת hundred mê·’ō·wṯ וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים and fifty wa·ḥă·miš·šîm וּנְבִיאֵ֣י prophets ū·nə·ḇî·’ê אִֽישׁ׃ . . . . ’îš 1 Kings 18:23 וְיִתְּנוּ־ Get wə·yit·tə·nū- שְׁנַ֣יִם two šə·na·yim פָּרִ֗ים bulls pā·rîm לָ֜נוּ for us . lā·nū וְיִבְחֲר֣וּ Let [the prophets of Baal] choose wə·yiḇ·ḥă·rū הָאֶחָ֜ד one hā·’e·ḥāḏ הַפָּ֨ר bull hap·pār לָהֶם֩ for themselves , lā·hem וִֽינַתְּחֻ֗הוּ cut it into pieces , wî·nat·tə·ḥu·hū וְיָשִׂ֙ימוּ֙ and place wə·yā·śî·mū עַל־ it on ‘al- הָ֣עֵצִ֔ים the wood hā·‘ê·ṣîm לֹ֣א but not lō יָשִׂ֑ימוּ light yā·śî·mū וְאֵ֖שׁ the fire . wə·’êš וַאֲנִ֞י And I wa·’ă·nî אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה׀ will prepare ’e·‘ĕ·śeh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאֶחָ֗ד the other hā·’e·ḥāḏ הַפָּ֣ר bull hap·pār וְנָֽתַתִּי֙ and place wə·nā·ṯat·tî עַל־ it on ‘al- הָ֣עֵצִ֔ים the wood hā·‘ê·ṣîm לֹ֥א but not lō אָשִֽׂים׃ light ’ā·śîm וְאֵ֖שׁ the fire . wə·’êš 1 Kings 18:24 וּקְרָאתֶ֞ם Then you may call ū·qə·rā·ṯem בְּשֵׁ֣ם on the name bə·šêm אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֗ם of your god , ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem וַֽאֲנִי֙ and I wa·’ă·nî אֶקְרָ֣א will call ’eq·rā בְשֵׁם־ on the name ḇə·šêm- יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH . Yah·weh וְהָיָ֧ה wə·hā·yāh הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים The God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- יַעֲנֶ֥ה answers ya·‘ă·neh בָאֵ֖שׁ by fire , ḇā·’êš ה֣וּא He [is] hū הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים God . ” hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm כָּל־ And all kāl- הָעָ֛ם the people hā·‘ām וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ answered way·yō·mə·rū וַיַּ֧עַן . . . , way·ya·‘an הַדָּבָֽר׃ “ What you say had·dā·ḇār ט֥וֹב is good . ” ṭō·wḇ 1 Kings 18:25 אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ Then Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū
