וְכָהֵם֙ . . . , wə·ḵā·hêm וְעֵינֵ֥י and may the eyes wə·‘ê·nê אֲדֹנִֽי־ of my lord ’ă·ḏō·nî- הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ רֹא֑וֹת see [it] . rō·’ō·wṯ לָ֥מָּה But why lām·māh וַאדֹנִ֣י does my lord wa·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ חָפֵ֖ץ want ḥā·p̄êṣ הַזֶּֽה׃ to do such haz·zeh בַּדָּבָ֥ר a thing ? ” bad·dā·ḇār 2 Samuel 24:4 הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ Nevertheless , the king’s ham·me·leḵ דְּבַר־ word də·ḇar- וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק prevailed way·ye·ḥĕ·zaq אֶל־ against ’el- יוֹאָ֔ב Joab yō·w·’āḇ וְעַ֖ל and against wə·‘al שָׂרֵ֣י the commanders śā·rê הֶחָ֑יִל of the army . he·ḥā·yil יוֹאָ֜ב So Joab yō·w·’āḇ וְשָׂרֵ֤י and the commanders wə·śā·rê הַחַ֙יִל֙ of the army ha·ḥa·yil וַיֵּצֵ֨א departed way·yê·ṣê לִפְנֵ֣י from the presence lip̄·nê הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the king ham·me·leḵ לִפְקֹ֥ד to count lip̄·qōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֖ם the troops hā·‘ām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl 2 Samuel 24:5 וַיַּעַבְר֖וּ They crossed way·ya·‘aḇ·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן the Jordan hay·yar·dên וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ and camped way·ya·ḥă·nū בַעֲרוֹעֵ֗ר near Aroer , ḇa·‘ă·rō·w·‘êr יְמִ֥ין south yə·mîn הָעִ֛יר of the town hā·‘îr אֲשֶׁ֛ר - ’ă·šer בְּתוֹךְ־ in the middle bə·ṯō·wḵ- הַנַּ֥חַל of the valley , han·na·ḥal הַגָּ֖ד and proceeded toward Gad hag·gāḏ וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- יַעְזֵֽר׃ and Jazer . ya‘·zêr 2 Samuel 24:6 וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ Then they went way·yā·ḇō·’ū הַגִּלְעָ֔דָה to Gilead hag·gil·‘ā·ḏāh וְאֶל־ and wə·’el- אֶ֥רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ תַּחְתִּ֖ים vvv taḥ·tîm חָדְשִׁ֑י of Tahtim-hodshi , ḥā·ḏə·šî וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ and way·yā·ḇō·’ū דָּ֣נָה vvv dā·nāh יַּ֔עַן on to Dan-jaan ya·‘an וְסָבִ֖יב and around wə·sā·ḇîḇ אֶל־ to ’el- צִידֽוֹן׃ Sidon . ṣî·ḏō·wn 2 Samuel 24:7 וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ They went way·yā·ḇō·’ū מִבְצַר־ toward the fortress miḇ·ṣar- צֹ֔ר of Tyre ṣōr וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl עָרֵ֥י the cities ‘ā·rê הַחִוִּ֖י of the Hivites ha·ḥiw·wî וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י and Canaanites . wə·hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî וַיֵּֽצְא֛וּ Finally, they went on way·yê·ṣə·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- נֶ֥גֶב the Negev ne·ḡeḇ יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh בְּאֵ֥ר vvv bə·’êr שָֽׁבַע׃ [to] Beersheba . šā·ḇa‘ 2 Samuel 24:8 מִקְצֵ֨ה At the end miq·ṣêh תִשְׁעָ֧ה of nine ṯiš·‘āh חֳדָשִׁ֛ים months ḥo·ḏā·šîm וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים and twenty wə·‘eś·rîm י֖וֹם days , yō·wm וַיָּשֻׁ֖טוּ having gone way·yā·šu·ṭū בְּכָל־ through the whole bə·ḵāl הָאָ֑רֶץ land , hā·’ā·reṣ וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ they returned way·yā·ḇō·’ū יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ to Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim 2 Samuel 24:9 יוֹאָ֛ב And Joab yō·w·’āḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּתֵּ֥ן reported way·yit·tên הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ to the king ham·me·leḵ
