אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- בָּ֣אוּ came bā·’ū אִתָּ֑ךְ with you , ’it·tāḵ וָלֵֽכוּ׃ and go wā·lê·ḵū וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּ֣ם as soon as wə·hiš·kam·tem בַּבֹּ֔קֶר . . . bab·bō·qer וְא֥וֹר it is light wə·’ō·wr לָכֶ֖ם .” lā·ḵem 1 Samuel 29:11 דָּוִ֜ד So David dā·wiḏ ה֤וּא . . . hū וַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙ and his men wa·’ă·nā·šāw לָלֶ֣כֶת . . . lā·le·ḵeṯ וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם got up early way·yaš·kêm בַּבֹּ֔קֶר in the morning bab·bō·qer לָשׁ֖וּב to return lā·šūḇ אֶל־ to ’el- אֶ֣רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים of the Philistines . pə·liš·tîm וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים And the Philistines ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm עָל֥וּ went up ‘ā·lū יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ס to Jezreel . yiz·rə·‘el 1 Samuel 30:1 הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י On the third haš·šə·lî·šî בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm וַיְהִ֞י . . . way·hî דָוִ֧ד David ḏā·wiḏ וַאֲנָשָׁ֛יו and his men wa·’ă·nā·šāw בְּבֹ֨א arrived bə·ḇō צִֽקְלַ֖ג in Ziklag , ṣiq·laḡ וַעֲמָלֵקִ֣י and the Amalekites wa·‘ă·mā·lê·qî פָֽשְׁט֗וּ had raided p̄ā·šə·ṭū אֶל־ . . . ’el- נֶ֙גֶב֙ the Negev ne·ḡeḇ וְאֶל־ - wə·’el- צִ֣קְלַ֔ג - , ṣiq·laḡ וַיַּכּוּ֙ attacked way·yak·kū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צִ֣קְלַ֔ג Ziklag , ṣiq·laḡ וַיִּשְׂרְפ֥וּ and burned it down way·yiś·rə·p̄ū אֹתָ֖הּ - ’ō·ṯāh בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ - . bā·’êš 1 Samuel 30:2 וַיִּשְׁבּ֨וּ They had taken captive way·yiš·bū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַנָּשִׁ֤ים the women [and all] han·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁר־ who were ’ă·šer- בָּהּ֙ there , bāh מִקָּטֹ֣ן both young miq·qā·ṭōn וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- גָּד֔וֹל old . gā·ḏō·wl הֵמִ֖יתוּ They had not killed hê·mî·ṯū לֹ֥א . . . lō אִ֑ישׁ anyone , ’îš וַיִּֽנְהֲג֔וּ but had carried them off way·yin·hă·ḡū וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ as they went way·yê·lə·ḵū לְדַרְכָּֽם׃ on their way . lə·ḏar·kām 1 Samuel 30:3 דָוִ֤ד When David ḏā·wiḏ וַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙ and his men wa·’ă·nā·šāw וַיָּבֹ֨א came way·yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- הָעִ֔יר the city , hā·‘îr וְהִנֵּ֥ה they found wə·hin·nêh שְׂרוּפָ֖ה it burned down śə·rū·p̄āh בָּאֵ֑שׁ . . . bā·’êš וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֛ם and their wives ū·nə·šê·hem וּבְנֵיהֶ֥ם and sons ū·ḇə·nê·hem וּבְנֹתֵיהֶ֖ם and daughters ū·ḇə·nō·ṯê·hem נִשְׁבּֽוּ׃ taken captive . niš·bū 1 Samuel 30:4 דָוִ֜ד So David ḏā·wiḏ וְהָעָ֧ם and the troops wə·hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אִתּ֛וֹ with him ’it·tōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּשָּׂ֨א lifted up way·yiś·śā קוֹלָ֖ם their voices qō·w·lām וַיִּבְכּ֑וּ and wept way·yiḇ·kū עַ֣ד until ‘aḏ אֲשֶׁ֧ר - ’ă·šer אֵין־ they had no ’ên- בָּהֶ֛ם . . . bā·hem כֹּ֖חַ strength kō·aḥ לִבְכּֽוֹת׃ left to weep . liḇ·kō·wṯ 1 Samuel 30:5 דָוִ֖ד David’s ḏā·wiḏ וּשְׁתֵּ֥י two ū·šə·tê
