וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and told him , way·yō·mer אֵ֠לָיו . . . ’ê·lāw יְהוָ֞ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh כִּי־ . . . kî- חַי־ lives , ḥay- אַתָּ֗ה you ’at·tāh יָשָׁ֣ר have been upright yā·šār בְּ֠עֵינַי in my sight , bə·‘ê·nay וְט֣וֹב and it seems right wə·ṭō·wḇ צֵאתְךָ֨ that you should march in and out ṣê·ṯə·ḵā וּבֹאֲךָ֤ . . . ū·ḇō·’ă·ḵā אִתִּי֙ with me ’it·tî בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה in the army , bam·ma·ḥă·neh כִּ֠י because kî מָצָ֤אתִֽי I have found mā·ṣā·ṯî לֹֽא־ no lō- רָעָ֔ה fault rā·‘āh בְךָ֙ in you ḇə·ḵā מִיּ֛וֹם from the day mî·yō·wm בֹּאֲךָ֥ you came bō·’ă·ḵā אֵלַ֖י to me ’ê·lay עַד־ until ‘aḏ- הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh הַיּ֣וֹם day . hay·yō·wm אָֽתָּה׃ But you ’āt·tāh לֹֽא־ have no lō- ט֥וֹב favor ṭō·wḇ וּבְעֵינֵ֥י in the sight ū·ḇə·‘ê·nê הַסְּרָנִ֖ים of the leaders . has·sə·rā·nîm 1 Samuel 29:7 שׁ֖וּב Therefore turn back šūḇ וְעַתָּ֥ה now wə·‘at·tāh וְלֵ֣ךְ and go wə·lêḵ בְּשָׁל֑וֹם in peace , bə·šā·lō·wm וְלֹֽא־ so that you will not wə·lō- תַעֲשֶׂ֣ה do anything ṯa·‘ă·śeh בְּעֵינֵ֖י to displease bə·‘ê·nê רָ֔ע . . . rā‘ סַרְנֵ֥י the leaders sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ס of the Philistines .” p̄ə·liš·tîm 1 Samuel 29:8 כִּ֣י “ But kî מֶ֤ה what meh עָשִׂ֙יתִי֙ have I done ?” ‘ā·śî·ṯî דָּוִ֜ד David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֶל־ - ’el- אָכִ֗ישׁ - . ’ā·ḵîš וּמַה־ “ What ū·mah- מָּצָ֣אתָ have you found mā·ṣā·ṯā בְעַבְדְּךָ֔ against your servant , ḇə·‘aḇ·də·ḵā מִיּוֹם֙ from the day mî·yō·wm אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer הָיִ֣יתִי I came hā·yî·ṯî לְפָנֶ֔יךָ to you lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā עַ֖ד until today , ‘aḏ הַיּ֣וֹם . . . hay·yō·wm הַזֶּ֑ה . . . haz·zeh כִּ֣י to kî לֹ֤א keep me from lō אָבוֹא֙ going along ’ā·ḇō·w וְנִלְחַ֔מְתִּי to fight wə·nil·ḥam·tî בְּאֹיְבֵ֖י against the enemies bə·’ō·yə·ḇê אֲדֹנִ֥י of my lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ the king ?” ham·me·leḵ 1 Samuel 29:9 אָכִישׁ֮ Achish ’ā·ḵîš וַיַּ֣עַן replied way·ya·‘an וַיֹּ֣אמֶר . . . way·yō·mer אֶל־ . . . ’el- דָּוִד֒ - , dā·wiḏ יָדַ֕עְתִּי “ I know yā·ḏa‘·tî כִּ֣י that kî אַתָּ֛ה you [are] ’at·tāh ט֥וֹב as pleasing ṭō·wḇ בְּעֵינַ֖י in my sight bə·‘ê·nay כְּמַלְאַ֣ךְ as an angel kə·mal·’aḵ אֱלֹהִ֑ים of God . ’ĕ·lō·hîm אַ֣ךְ But ’aḵ שָׂרֵ֤י the commanders śā·rê פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm אָֽמְר֔וּ have said , ’ā·mə·rū לֹֽא־ ‘ He must not lō- יַעֲלֶ֥ה go ya·‘ă·leh בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ into battle bam·mil·ḥā·māh עִמָּ֖נוּ with us .’ ‘im·mā·nū 1 Samuel 29:10 וְעַתָּה֙ Now then , wə·‘at·tāh הַשְׁכֵּ֣ם get up early haš·kêm בַּבֹּ֔קֶר in the morning , bab·bō·qer אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ along with your master’s ’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā וְעַבְדֵ֥י servants wə·‘aḇ·ḏê
