אַתָּה֙ you ’at·tāh גְּמַלְתַּ֣נִי have rewarded me gə·mal·ta·nî הַטּוֹבָ֔ה with good , haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh וַאֲנִ֖י though I wa·’ă·nî גְּמַלְתִּ֥יךָ have rewarded you gə·mal·tî·ḵā הָרָעָֽה׃ with evil . hā·rā·‘āh 1 Samuel 24:18 וְאַתְּ And you wə·ʾat הִגַּ֣דְתָּ have shown hig·gaḏ·tā הַיּ֔וֹם this day hay·yō·wm אֵ֛ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ how ’ă·šer- טוֹבָ֑ה well ṭō·w·ḇāh אֵת֩ - ’êṯ עָשִׂ֥יתָה you have dealt ‘ā·śî·ṯāh אִתִּ֖י with me ; ’it·tî אֲשֶׁ֨ר for when ’ă·šer יְהוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh סִגְּרַ֧נִי delivered me sig·gə·ra·nî בְּיָדְךָ֖ into your hand , bə·yā·ḏə·ḵā וְלֹ֥א you did not wə·lō הֲרַגְתָּֽנִי׃ kill me . hă·raḡ·tā·nî 1 Samuel 24:19 וְכִֽי־ When wə·ḵî- אִישׁ֙ a man ’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִמְצָ֥א finds yim·ṣā אֹ֣יְב֔וֹ his enemy , ’ō·yə·ḇōw וְשִׁלְּח֖וֹ does he let him go wə·šil·lə·ḥōw בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ away bə·ḏe·reḵ טוֹבָ֑ה unharmed ? ṭō·w·ḇāh וַֽיהוָה֙ May YHWH Yah·weh יְשַׁלֶּמְךָ֣ reward you yə·šal·lem·ḵā טוֹבָ֔ה with good ṭō·w·ḇāh תַּ֚חַת for ta·ḥaṯ אֲשֶׁ֥ר what ’ă·šer עָשִׂ֖יתָה you have done ‘ā·śî·ṯāh לִֽי׃ for me lî הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הַיּ֣וֹם day . hay·yō·wm 1 Samuel 24:20 וְעַתָּה֙ Now wə·‘at·tāh יָדַ֔עְתִּי I know yā·ḏa‘·tî כִּ֥י . . . kî הִנֵּ֣ה for sure that hin·nêh מָלֹ֖ךְ vvv mā·lōḵ תִּמְל֑וֹךְ you will be king , tim·lō·wḵ מַמְלֶ֖כֶת and that the kingdom mam·le·ḵeṯ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וְקָ֙מָה֙ will be established wə·qā·māh בְּיָ֣דְךָ֔ in your hands . bə·yā·ḏə·ḵā 1 Samuel 24:21 וְעַתָּ֗ה So now , wə·‘at·tāh הִשָּׁ֤בְעָה swear hiš·šā·ḇə·‘āh לִּי֙ to me lî בַּֽיהוָ֔ה by YHWH Yah·weh אִם־ that you will not ’im- תַּכְרִ֥ית cut off taḵ·rîṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זַרְעִ֖י my descendants zar·‘î אַֽחֲרָ֑י . . . ’a·ḥă·rāy וְאִם־ . . . wə·’im- תַּשְׁמִ֥יד or wipe out taš·mîḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמִ֖י my name šə·mî אָבִֽי׃ from my father’s ’ā·ḇî מִבֵּ֥ית house .” mib·bêṯ 1 Samuel 24:22 דָּוִ֖ד So David dā·wiḏ וַיִּשָּׁבַ֥ע gave his oath way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ לְשָׁא֑וּל to Saul . lə·šā·’ūl שָׁאוּל֙ Then Saul šā·’ūl אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ returned way·yê·leḵ בֵּית֔וֹ home , bê·ṯōw וְדָוִד֙ but David wə·ḏā·wiḏ וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֔יו and his men wa·’ă·nā·šāw עָל֖וּ went up ‘ā·lū עַל־ to ‘al- הַמְּצוּדָֽה׃פ the stronghold . ham·mə·ṣū·ḏāh 1 Samuel 25:1 שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל When Samuel šə·mū·’êl וַיָּ֣מָת died , way·yā·māṯ כָל־ all ḵāl יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּקָּבְצ֤וּ gathered way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū וַיִּסְפְּדוּ־ to mourn way·yis·pə·ḏū- ל֔וֹ for him ; lōw
