שָׁא֑וּל Saul . šā·’ūl וְשָׁא֛וּל Then Saul wə·šā·’ūl קָ֥ם left qām מֵהַמְּעָרָ֖ה the cave mê·ham·mə·‘ā·rāh וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ and went way·yê·leḵ בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ס on his way . bad·dā·reḵ 1 Samuel 24:8 אַחֲרֵי־ After ’a·ḥă·rê- כֵ֗ן that , ḵên דָּוִ֜ד David dā·wiḏ וַיָּ֨קָם got up , way·yā·qām וַיֵּצֵא֙ went out way·yê·ṣê מִן־ of min- הַמְּעָרָה the cave , ham·mə·ʿå̄·rå̄h וַיִּקְרָ֧א and called out way·yiq·rā אַֽחֲרֵי־ to ’a·ḥă·rê- שָׁא֛וּל Saul , šā·’ūl לֵאמֹ֖ר . . . lê·mōr אֲדֹנִ֣י “ My lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king ! ” ham·me·leḵ שָׁאוּל֙ When Saul šā·’ūl וַיַּבֵּ֤ט looked way·yab·bêṭ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו behind him , ’a·ḥă·rāw דָּוִ֥ד David dā·wiḏ וַיִּקֹּ֨ד bowed way·yiq·qōḏ אַפַּ֛יִם facedown ’ap·pa·yim אַ֖רְצָה . . . ’ar·ṣāh וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ס in reverence way·yiš·tā·ḥū 1 Samuel 24:9 דָּוִד֙ and dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer לְשָׁא֔וּל to Saul , lə·šā·’ūl לָ֧מָּה “ Why lām·māh תִשְׁמַ֛ע do you listen ṯiš·ma‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דִּבְרֵ֥י to the words diḇ·rê אָדָ֖ם of men ’ā·ḏām לֵאמֹ֑ר who say , lê·mōr הִנֵּ֣ה ‘ Look , hin·nêh דָוִ֔ד David ḏā·wiḏ מְבַקֵּ֖שׁ intends mə·ḇaq·qêš רָעָתֶֽךָ׃ to harm you ’ ? rā·‘ā·ṯe·ḵā 1 Samuel 24:10 הִנֵּה֩ Behold , hin·nêh הַזֶּ֜ה this haz·zeh הַיּ֨וֹם day hay·yō·wm רָא֣וּ you have seen rā·’ū עֵינֶ֗יךָ with your own eyes ‘ê·ne·ḵā אֵ֣ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֨ה׀ YHWH Yah·weh הַיּ֤וֹם׀ . . . hay·yō·wm נְתָנְךָ֩ delivered you nə·ṯā·nə·ḵā בְּיָדִי֙ into my hand bə·yā·ḏî בַּמְּעָרָ֔ה in the cave . bam·mə·‘ā·rāh וְאָמַ֥ר I was told wə·’ā·mar לַהֲרָגֲךָ֖ to kill you , la·hă·rā·ḡă·ḵā וַתָּ֣חָס but I spared wat·tā·ḥās עָלֶ֑יךָ you ‘ā·le·ḵā וָאֹמַ֗ר and said , wā·’ō·mar לֹא־ ‘ I will not lō- אֶשְׁלַ֤ח lift ’eš·laḥ יָדִי֙ my hand yā·ḏî בַּֽאדֹנִ֔י against my lord , ba·ḏō·nî כִּי־ since kî- הֽוּא׃ he hū יְהוָ֖ה is YHWH’s Yah·weh מְשִׁ֥יחַ anointed . ’ mə·šî·aḥ 1 Samuel 24:11 רְאֵ֔ה See , rə·’êh גַּ֗ם . . . gam וְאָבִ֣י my father , wə·’ā·ḇî רְאֵ֛ה look rə·’êh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כְּנַ֥ף at the corner kə·nap̄ מְעִילְךָ֖ of your robe mə·‘î·lə·ḵā בְּיָדִ֑י in my hand . bə·yā·ḏî כִּ֡י For kî כְּנַ֨ף I cut it kə·nap̄ מְעִֽילְךָ֜ . . . mə·‘î·lə·ḵā בְּכָרְתִי֩ off , bə·ḵā·rə·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְלֹ֣א but I did not wə·lō הֲרַגְתִּ֗יךָ kill you . hă·raḡ·tî·ḵā וּרְאֵה֙ See ū·rə·’êh דַּ֤ע and know da‘ כִּי֩ that kî אֵ֨ין there is no ’ên רָעָ֤ה evil rā·‘āh וָפֶ֙שַׁע֙ or rebellion wā·p̄e·ša‘ בְּיָדִ֜י in my hands . bə·yā·ḏî וְלֹא־ I have not wə·lō-
