כִּֽי־ that kî- שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl מְבַקֵּ֥שׁ intends mə·ḇaq·qêš לָב֣וֹא to come lā·ḇō·w אֶל־ to ’el- קְעִילָ֑ה Keilah qə·‘î·lāh לְשַׁחֵ֥ת and destroy lə·ša·ḥêṯ לָעִ֖יר the city lā·‘îr בַּעֲבוּרִֽי׃ on my account . ba·‘ă·ḇū·rî 1 Samuel 23:11 בַעֲלֵי֩ Will the citizens ḇa·‘ă·lê קְעִילָ֨ה of Keilah qə·‘î·lāh הֲיַסְגִּרֻ֣נִי surrender me hă·yas·gi·ru·nî בְיָד֜וֹ into his hand ? ḇə·yā·ḏōw שָׁא֗וּל Will Saul šā·’ūl הֲיֵרֵ֣ד come down , hă·yê·rêḏ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ as ka·’ă·šer עַבְדֶּ֔ךָ Your servant ‘aḇ·de·ḵā שָׁמַ֣ע has heard ? šā·ma‘ יְהוָה֙ O YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl נָ֖א please nā הַגֶּד־ tell hag·geḏ- לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָס Your servant .” lə·ʿaḇ·dɛ·ḵå̄s יֵרֵֽד׃ “ He will ,” yê·rêḏ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said way·yō·mer יְהוָ֖ה YHWH . Yah·weh 1 Samuel 23:12 דָּוִ֔ד So David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר asked , way·yō·mer בַּעֲלֵ֧י “ Will the citizens ba·‘ă·lê קְעִילָ֛ה of Keilah qə·‘î·lāh הֲיַסְגִּ֜רוּ surrender hă·yas·gi·rū אֹתִ֥י me ’ō·ṯî וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- אֲנָשַׁ֖י my men ’ă·nā·šay בְּיַד־ into the hand bə·yaḏ- שָׁא֑וּל of Saul ?” šā·’ūl יַסְגִּֽירוּ׃ס “ They will ,” yas·gî·rū וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said way·yō·mer יְהוָ֖ה YHWH . Yah·weh 1 Samuel 23:13 דָּוִ֨ד Then David dā·wiḏ וַאֲנָשָׁ֜יו and his men , wa·’ă·nā·šāw כְּשֵׁשׁ־ about six kə·šêš- מֵא֣וֹת hundred [strong] , mê·’ō·wṯ וַיָּקָם֩ set out way·yā·qām אִ֗ישׁ - ’îš וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ and departed way·yê·ṣə·’ū מִקְּעִלָ֔ה from Keilah , miq·qə·‘i·lāh וַיִּֽתְהַלְּכ֖וּ moving from place to place way·yiṯ·hal·lə·ḵū בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר - ba·’ă·šer יִתְהַלָּ֑כוּ - . yiṯ·hal·lā·ḵū וּלְשָׁא֣וּל When Saul ū·lə·šā·’ūl הֻגַּ֗ד was told hug·gaḏ כִּֽי־ that kî- דָּוִד֙ David dā·wiḏ נִמְלַ֤ט had escaped nim·laṭ מִקְּעִילָ֔ה from Keilah , miq·qə·‘î·lāh וַיֶּחְדַּ֖ל he declined way·yeḥ·dal לָצֵֽאת׃ to go forth . lā·ṣêṯ 1 Samuel 23:14 דָּוִ֤ד And David dā·wiḏ וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב stayed way·yê·šeḇ בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ in the wilderness bam·miḏ·bār בַּמְּצָד֔וֹת strongholds bam·mə·ṣā·ḏō·wṯ וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב . . . way·yê·šeḇ בָּהָ֖ר and in the hill country bā·hār בְּמִדְבַּר־ of the Wilderness bə·miḏ·bar- זִ֑יף of Ziph . zîp̄ כָּל־ Day kāl- הַיָּמִ֔ים after day hay·yā·mîm שָׁאוּל֙ Saul šā·’ūl וַיְבַקְשֵׁ֤הוּ searched for him , way·ḇaq·šê·hū אֱלֹהִ֖ים but God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וְלֹֽא־ would not wə·lō- נְתָנ֥וֹ deliver [David] nə·ṯā·nōw בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ into his hand . bə·yā·ḏōw 1 Samuel 23:15 דָוִ֔ד While David ḏå̄·wiḏ בַּחֹֽרְשָׁה׃ס was in Horesh ba·ḥō·rə·šāh בְּמִדְבַּר־ in the Wilderness bə·miḏ·bar- זִ֖יף of Ziph , zîp̄ וְדָוִ֥ד he wə·ḏā·wiḏ וַיַּ֣רְא saw way·yar כִּֽי־ that kî- שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl יָצָ֥א had come out yā·ṣā לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ to take lə·ḇaq·qêš
