אָבִ֔יךָ your father ’ā·ḇî·ḵā מְדַבֵּ֛ר saying mə·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- אָחִ֖יךָ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā לֵאמֹֽר׃ . . . lê·mōr עֵשָׂ֥ו Esau , ‘ê·śāw Genesis 27:7 הָבִ֨יאָה ‘ Bring hā·ḇî·’āh לִּ֥י me lî צַ֛יִד some game ṣa·yiḏ וַעֲשֵׂה־ and prepare wa·‘ă·śêh- לִ֥י me lî מַטְעַמִּ֖ים a tasty dish maṭ·‘am·mîm וְאֹכֵ֑לָה to eat , wə·’ō·ḵê·lāh וַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛ה so that I may bless you wa·’ă·ḇā·reḵ·ḵāh לִפְנֵ֥י in the presence lip̄·nê יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê מוֹתִֽי׃ I die . ’ mō·w·ṯî Genesis 27:8 וְעַתָּ֥ה Now , wə·‘at·tāh בְנִ֖י my son , ḇə·nî שְׁמַ֣ע listen to šə·ma‘ בְּקֹלִ֑י my voice bə·qō·lî לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר and do exactly as la·’ă·šer אֲנִ֖י I ’ă·nî מְצַוָּ֥ה tell mə·ṣaw·wāh אֹתָֽךְ׃ you . ’ō·ṯāḵ Genesis 27:9 לֶךְ־ Go out leḵ- נָא֙ . . . nā אֶל־ to ’el- הַצֹּ֔אן the flock haṣ·ṣōn וְקַֽח־ and bring wə·qaḥ- לִ֣י me lî מִשָּׁ֗ם . . . miš·šām שְׁנֵ֛י two šə·nê טֹבִ֑ים choice ṭō·ḇîm גְּדָיֵ֥י young goats gə·ḏā·yê עִזִּ֖ים . . . , ‘iz·zîm וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה so that I can make wə·’e·‘ĕ·śeh אֹתָ֧ם them ’ō·ṯām מַטְעַמִּ֛ים into a tasty dish maṭ·‘am·mîm לְאָבִ֖יךָ for your father — lə·’ā·ḇî·ḵā כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר the kind ka·’ă·šer אָהֵֽב׃ he loves . ’ā·hêḇ Genesis 27:10 וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ Then take wə·hê·ḇê·ṯā לְאָבִ֖יךָ it to your father lə·’ā·ḇî·ḵā וְאָכָ֑ל to eat , wə·’ā·ḵāl בַּעֲבֻ֛ר so that ba·‘ă·ḇur אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ he may bless yə·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā לִפְנֵ֥י you before lip̄·nê מוֹתֽוֹ׃ he dies . ” mō·w·ṯōw Genesis 27:11 יַעֲקֹ֔ב Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֹּ֣אמֶר answered way·yō·mer אִמּ֑וֹ his mother ’im·mōw רִבְקָ֖ה Rebekah , riḇ·qāh הֵ֣ן “ Look , hên אָחִי֙ my brother ’ā·ḥî עֵשָׂ֤ו Esau ‘ê·śāw שָׂעִ֔ר is a hairy śā·‘ir אִ֣ישׁ man , ’îš וְאָנֹכִ֖י but I am wə·’ā·nō·ḵî אִ֥ישׁ . . . ’îš חָלָֽק׃ smooth-skinned . ḥā·lāq Genesis 27:12 אוּלַ֤י What if ’ū·lay אָבִ֔י my father ’ā·ḇî יְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ touches me ? yə·muš·šê·nî וְהָיִ֥יתִי Then I would be revealed wə·hā·yî·ṯî בְעֵינָ֖יו to him ḇə·‘ê·nāw כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ as a deceiver , kim·ṯa‘·tê·a‘ וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י and I would bring wə·hê·ḇê·ṯî עָלַ֛י upon myself ‘ā·lay קְלָלָ֖ה a curse qə·lā·lāh וְלֹ֥א rather than wə·lō בְרָכָֽה׃ a blessing . ” ḇə·rā·ḵāh Genesis 27:13 אִמּ֔וֹ His mother ’im·mōw וַתֹּ֤אמֶר replied wat·tō·mer לוֹ֙ , lōw קִלְלָתְךָ֖ “ Your curse qil·lā·ṯə·ḵā
