וַתֹּ֧אמֶר replied wat·tō·mer ל֣וֹ , lōw לוּ֩ “ If lū יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh חָפֵ֨ץ had intended ḥā·p̄êṣ לַהֲמִיתֵ֙נוּ֙ to kill us , la·hă·mî·ṯê·nū לֹֽא־ He would not lō- לָקַ֤ח have accepted lā·qaḥ עֹלָ֣ה the burnt offering ‘ō·lāh וּמִנְחָ֔ה and the grain offering ū·min·ḥāh מִיָּדֵ֙נוּ֙ from our hands , mî·yā·ḏê·nū וְלֹ֥א nor would He wə·lō הֶרְאָ֖נוּ have shown her·’ā·nū אֶת־ us ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- אֵ֑לֶּה these things ’êl·leh הִשְׁמִיעָ֖נוּ or spoken hiš·mî·‘ā·nū וְכָעֵ֕ת to us wə·ḵā·‘êṯ לֹ֥א . . . lō כָּזֹֽאת׃ this way . ” kā·zōṯ Judges 13:24 הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ So the woman hā·’iš·šāh וַתֵּ֤לֶד gave birth to wat·tê·leḏ בֵּ֔ן a son bên וַתִּקְרָ֥א and named wat·tiq·rā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמ֖וֹ him šə·mōw שִׁמְשׁ֑וֹן Samson . šim·šō·wn הַנַּ֔עַר The boy han·na·‘ar וַיִּגְדַּ֣ל grew , way·yiḡ·dal יְהוָֽה׃ and YHWH Yah·weh וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖הוּ blessed him . way·ḇā·rə·ḵê·hū Judges 13:25 ר֣וּחַ And the Spirit rū·aḥ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַתָּ֙חֶל֙ began wat·tā·ḥel לְפַעֲמ֖וֹ to stir him lə·p̄a·‘ă·mōw בְּמַחֲנֵה־ at Mahaneh-dan bə·ma·ḥă·nêh- דָ֑ן . . . , ḏān בֵּ֥ין between bên צָרְעָ֖ה Zorah ṣā·rə·‘āh וּבֵ֥ין . . . ū·ḇên אֶשְׁתָּאֹֽל׃פ and Eshtaol . ’eš·tā·’ōl Judges 14:1 שִׁמְשׁ֖וֹן One day Samson šim·šō·wn וַיֵּ֥רֶד went down way·yê·reḏ תִּמְנָ֑תָה to Timnah , tim·nā·ṯāh וַיַּ֥רְא where he saw way·yar אִשָּׁ֛ה . . . ’iš·šāh פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ a young Philistine pə·liš·tîm מִבְּנ֥וֹת woman mib·bə·nō·wṯ בְּתִמְנָ֖תָה . . . . bə·ṯim·nā·ṯāh Judges 14:2 וַיַּ֗עַל So he returned way·ya·‘al וַיַּגֵּד֙ and told way·yag·gêḏ לְאָבִ֣יו his father lə·’ā·ḇîw וּלְאִמּ֔וֹ and mother ū·lə·’im·mōw וַיֹּ֗אמֶר - way·yō·mer אִשָּׁ֛ה - , ’iš·šāh רָאִ֥יתִי “ I have seen rā·’î·ṯî מִבְּנ֣וֹת a daughter mib·bə·nō·wṯ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים of the Philistines pə·liš·tîm בְתִמְנָ֖תָה in Timnah . ḇə·ṯim·nā·ṯāh וְעַתָּ֕ה Now wə·‘at·tāh קְחוּ־ get qə·ḥū- אוֹתָ֥הּ her ’ō·w·ṯāh לִּ֖י for me lî לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ as a wife . ” lə·’iš·šāh Judges 14:3 אָבִ֣יו But his father ’ā·ḇîw וְאִמּ֗וֹ and mother wə·’im·mōw וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer ל֜וֹ , lōw הַאֵין֩ “ Can’t you [find] ha·’ên בִּבְנ֨וֹת a young woman biḇ·nō·wṯ אַחֶ֤יךָ among your relatives ’a·ḥe·ḵā וּבְכָל־ or among any ū·ḇə·ḵāl עַמִּי֙ of our people ? ‘am·mî אִשָּׁ֔ה - ’iš·šāh כִּֽי־ - kî- אַתָּ֤ה Must you ’at·tāh הוֹלֵךְ֙ go hō·w·lêḵ הָעֲרֵלִ֑ים to the uncircumcised hā·‘ă·rê·lîm מִפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים Philistines mip·pə·liš·tîm לָקַ֣חַת to get lā·qa·ḥaṯ אִשָּׁ֔ה a wife ? ” ’iš·šāh שִׁמְשׁ֤וֹן But Samson šim·šō·wn אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֹּ֨אמֶר told way·yō·mer אָבִיו֙ his father , ’ā·ḇîw
