אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ in Ephraim , ’ep̄·ra·yim בְּת֥וֹךְ living in the territories bə·ṯō·wḵ אֶפְרַ֖יִם of Ephraim ’ep̄·ra·yim בְּת֥וֹךְ . . . bə·ṯō·wḵ מְנַשֶּֽׁה׃ and Manasseh . ” mə·naš·šeh Judges 12:5 גִּלְעָ֛ד The Gileadites gil·‘āḏ אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּלְכֹּ֥ד captured way·yil·kōḏ מַעְבְּר֥וֹת the fords ma‘·bə·rō·wṯ הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן of the Jordan hay·yar·dên לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם leading to Ephraim , lə·’ep̄·rā·yim וְֽ֠הָיָה and wə·hā·yāh כִּ֣י whenever kî פְּלִיטֵ֤י a fugitive pə·lî·ṭê אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ from Ephraim ’ep̄·ra·yim יֹאמְר֞וּ would say , yō·mə·rū אֶעֱבֹ֔רָה “ Let me cross over , ” ’e·‘ĕ·ḇō·rāh גִלְעָ֛ד the Gileadites ḡil·‘āḏ וַיֹּ֨אמְרוּ would ask way·yō·mə·rū ל֧וֹ him , lōw אַנְשֵֽׁי־ . . . ’an·šê- אַ֖תָּה “ Are you ’at·tāh הַֽאֶפְרָתִ֥י an Ephraimite ? ” ha·’ep̄·rā·ṯî וַיֹּ֥אמֶֽר׀ If he answered , way·yō·mer לֹֽא׃ “ No , ” lō Judges 12:6 וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ they told way·yō·mə·rū לוֹ֩ him , lōw נָ֨א “ Please nā אֱמָר־ say ’ĕ·mār- שִׁבֹּ֜לֶת Shibboleth . ” šib·bō·leṯ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר If he said , way·yō·mer סִבֹּ֗לֶת “ Sibboleth , ” sib·bō·leṯ יָכִין֙ because he could yā·ḵîn וְלֹ֤א not wə·lō לְדַבֵּ֣ר pronounce lə·ḏab·bêr כֵּ֔ן it correctly , kên וַיֹּאחֲז֣וּ they seized way·yō·ḥă·zū אוֹת֔וֹ him ’ō·w·ṯōw וַיִּשְׁחָט֖וּהוּ and killed him way·yiš·ḥā·ṭū·hū אֶל־ at ’el- מַעְבְּר֣וֹת the fords ma‘·bə·rō·wṯ הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן of the Jordan . hay·yar·dên הַהִיא֙ So at that ha·hî בָּעֵ֤ת time bā·‘êṯ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים 42,000 {} ’ar·bā·‘îm וּשְׁנַ֖יִם . . . ū·šə·na·yim אָֽלֶף׃ . . . ’ā·lep̄ מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם Ephraimites mê·’ep̄·ra·yim וַיִּפֹּ֞ל were killed . way·yip·pōl Judges 12:7 יִפְתָּ֛ח Jephthah yip̄·tāḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט judged way·yiš·pōṭ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl שֵׁ֣שׁ six šêš שָׁנִ֑ים years , šā·nîm יִפְתָּח֙ and when he yip̄·tāḥ הַגִּלְעָדִ֔י . . . hag·gil·‘ā·ḏî וַיָּ֗מָת died , way·yā·māṯ וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר he was buried way·yiq·qā·ḇêr בְּעָרֵ֥י in one of the cities bə·‘ā·rê גִלְעָֽד׃פ of Gilead . ḡil·‘āḏ Judges 12:8 אַֽחֲרָיו֙ After Jephthah , ’a·ḥă·rāw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אִבְצָ֖ן Ibzan ’iḇ·ṣān מִבֵּ֥ית of mib·bêṯ לָֽחֶם׃ Bethlehem lā·ḥem וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט judged way·yiš·pōṭ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel . yiś·rā·’êl Judges 12:9 וַיְהִי־ He had way·hî- ל֞וֹ lōw שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty šə·lō·šîm בָּנִ֗ים sons , bā·nîm וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים as well as thirty ū·šə·lō·šîm בָּנוֹת֙ daughters bā·nō·wṯ שִׁלַּ֣ח whom he gave in marriage šil·laḥ הַח֔וּצָה to men outside his clan ; ha·ḥū·ṣāh לְבָנָ֖יו and for his sons lə·ḇā·nāw הֵבִ֥יא he brought back hê·ḇî וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty ū·šə·lō·šîm בָּנ֔וֹת wives bā·nō·wṯ מִן־ from min- הַח֑וּץ elsewhere . ha·ḥūṣ וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט Ibzan judged way·yiš·pōṭ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl
