אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙from Ephraim’ep̄·ra·yim
יֹאמְר֞וּ would say , yō·mə·rū
אֶעֱבֹ֔רָה “ Let me cross over , ” ’e·‘ĕ·ḇō·rāh
גִלְעָ֛דthe Gileaditesḡil·‘āḏ
וַיֹּ֨אמְרוּwould askway·yō·mə·rū
ל֧וֹ him , lōw
אַנְשֵֽׁי־. . .’an·šê-
אַ֖תָּה“ Are you’at·tāh
הַֽאֶפְרָתִ֥יan Ephraimite ? ”ha·’ep̄·rā·ṯî
וַיֹּ֥אמֶֽר׀ If he answered , way·yō·mer
לֹֽא׃ “ No , ”

אֱמָר־say’ĕ·mār-

סִבֹּ֗לֶת “ Sibboleth , ” sib·bō·leṯ
יָכִין֙because he couldyā·ḵîn
וְלֹ֤אnotwə·lō
לְדַבֵּ֣רpronouncelə·ḏab·bêr
כֵּ֔ן it correctly , kên
וַיֹּאחֲז֣וּthey seizedway·yō·ḥă·zū
אוֹת֔וֹhim’ō·w·ṯōw
וַיִּשְׁחָט֖וּהוּand killed himway·yiš·ḥā·ṭū·hū
אֶל־at’el-
מַעְבְּר֣וֹתthe fordsma‘·bə·rō·wṯ
הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ןof the Jordan .hay·yar·dên
הַהִיא֙So at thatha·hî
בָּעֵ֤תtimebā·‘êṯ
אַרְבָּעִ֥ים 42,000 {} ’ar·bā·‘îm
וּשְׁנַ֖יִם. . .ū·šə·na·yim
אָֽלֶף׃. . .’ā·lep̄
מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִםEphraimitesmê·’ep̄·ra·yim
וַיִּפֹּ֞לwere killed .way·yip·pōl

מִבֵּ֥יתofmib·bêṯ
לָֽחֶם׃Bethlehemlā·ḥem
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤טjudgedway·yiš·pōṭ
יִשְׂרָאֵ֔לIsrael .yiś·rā·’êl
Judges 12:9וַיְהִי־He hadway·hî-

שְׁלֹשִׁ֣יםthirtyšə·lō·šîm
בָּנִ֗ים sons , bā·nîm
וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤יםas well as thirtyū·šə·lō·šîm
בָּנוֹת֙daughtersbā·nō·wṯ
שִׁלַּ֣חwhom he gave in marriagešil·laḥ
הַח֔וּצָהto men outside his clan ;ha·ḥū·ṣāh
לְבָנָ֖יוand for his sonslə·ḇā·nāw
הֵבִ֥יאhe brought backhê·ḇî
וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣יםthirtyū·šə·lō·šîm
בָּנ֔וֹתwivesbā·nō·wṯ
מִן־frommin-
הַח֑וּץelsewhere .ha·ḥūṣ
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥טIbzan judgedway·yiš·pōṭ
