Judges 2:22 לְמַ֛עַן In this way lə·ma·‘an נַסּ֥וֹת I will test nas·sō·wṯ בָּ֖ם bām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אִם־ whether ’im- לֹֽא׃ . . . lō יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl הֵם֩ - hêm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הֲשֹׁמְרִ֣ים will keep hă·šō·mə·rîm דֶּ֨רֶךְ the way de·reḵ יְהוָ֜ה of YHWH Yah·weh לָלֶ֣כֶת by walking lā·le·ḵeṯ בָּ֗ם in it bām כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר as ka·’ă·šer שָׁמְר֥וּ . . . šā·mə·rū אֲבוֹתָ֖ם their fathers did . ” ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām Judges 2:23 יְהוָה֙ That is why YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאֵ֔לֶּה had left those hā·’êl·leh הַגּוֹיִ֣ם nations hag·gō·w·yim וַיַּנַּ֤ח in place way·yan·naḥ לְבִלְתִּ֥י and had not lə·ḇil·tî הוֹרִישָׁ֖ם driven them out hō·w·rî·šām מַהֵ֑ר immediately ma·hêr וְלֹ֥א - wə·lō נְתָנָ֖ם by delivering them nə·ṯā·nām בְּיַד־ into the hand bə·yaḏ- יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃פ of Joshua . yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ Judges 3:1 וְאֵ֤לֶּה These wə·’êl·leh הַגּוֹיִם֙ are the nations hag·gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh הִנִּ֣יחַ left hin·nî·aḥ לְנַסּ֥וֹת to test lə·nas·sō·wṯ כָּל־ all kāl- בָּ֖ם bām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל the Israelites yiś·rā·’êl אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ had not lō- יָדְע֔וּ known yā·ḏə·‘ū אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ any kāl- מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת of the wars mil·ḥă·mō·wṯ כְּנָֽעַן׃ in Canaan , kə·nā·‘an Judges 3:2 רַ֗ק if only raq לְמַ֙עַן֙ vvv lə·ma·‘an דַּ֚עַת . . . da·‘aṯ לְלַמְּדָ֖ם to teach lə·lam·mə·ḏām מִלְחָמָ֑ה warfare mil·ḥā·māh דֹּר֣וֹת to the subsequent generations dō·rō·wṯ בְּנֵֽי־ vvv bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl רַ֥ק especially raq אֲשֶׁר־ to those who ’ă·šer- לֹ֥א had not lō יְדָעֽוּם׃ known it yə·ḏā·‘ūm לְפָנִ֖ים formerly : lə·p̄ā·nîm Judges 3:3 חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת׀ the five ḥă·mê·šeṯ סַרְנֵ֣י rulers sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים of the Philistines , p̄ə·liš·tîm וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ the Canaanites , hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî וְהַצִּ֣ידֹנִ֔י the Sidonians , wə·haṣ·ṣî·ḏō·nî וְהַ֣חִוִּ֔י and the Hivites wə·ha·ḥiw·wî יֹשֵׁ֖ב who lived yō·šêḇ הַ֣ר in the mountains har הַלְּבָנ֑וֹן of Lebanon hal·lə·ḇā·nō·wn מֵהַר֙ from Mount mê·har בַּ֣עַל vvv ba·‘al חֶרְמ֔וֹן Baal-hermon ḥer·mō·wn עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ לְב֥וֹא vvv lə·ḇō·w חֲמָֽת׃ Lebo-hamath . ḥă·māṯ Judges 3:4 וַֽיִּהְי֕וּ [These nations] were [left] way·yih·yū לְנַסּ֥וֹת to test lə·nas·sō·wṯ בָּ֖ם - bām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל the Israelites , yiś·rā·’êl לָדַ֗עַת to find out lā·ḏa·‘aṯ הֲיִשְׁמְעוּ֙ whether they would keep hă·yiš·mə·‘ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מִצְוֺ֣ת the commandments miṣ·wōṯ
