Deuteronomy 12:1 אֵ֠לֶּה These [are] ’êl·leh הַֽחֻקִּ֣ים the statutes ha·ḥuq·qîm וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים֮ and ordinances wə·ham·miš·pā·ṭîm תִּשְׁמְר֣וּן you must be careful tiš·mə·rūn לַעֲשׂוֹת֒ to follow la·‘ă·śō·wṯ כָּל־ all kāl- הַיָּמִ֔ים the days hay·yā·mîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אַתֶּ֥ם you ’at·tem חַיִּ֖ים live ḥay·yîm עַל־ - ‘al- הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ - hā·’ă·ḏā·māh בָּאָ֕רֶץ in the land bā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר֩ - ’ă·šer אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer יְהוָ֜ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֧י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê אֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ of your fathers , ’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā נָתַ֨ן has given nā·ṯan לְךָ֖ you lə·ḵā לְרִשְׁתָּ֑הּ to possess . lə·riš·tāh Deuteronomy 12:2 אַבֵּ֣ד Destroy completely ’ab·bêḏ תְּ֠אַבְּדוּן . . . tə·’ab·bə·ḏūn אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הַמְּקֹמ֞וֹת the places ham·mə·qō·mō·wṯ אֲשֶׁ֧ר where ’ă·šer הַגּוֹיִ֗ם the nations hag·gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אַתֶּ֛ם you ’at·tem יֹרְשִׁ֥ים are dispossessing yō·rə·šîm אֹתָ֖ם - ’ō·ṯām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עָֽבְדוּ־ have served ‘ā·ḇə·ḏū- שָׁ֣ם . . . šām אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם their gods — ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem עַל־ atop ‘al- הָֽרָמִים֙ the high hā·rā·mîm הֶהָרִ֤ים mountains , he·hā·rîm וְעַל־ on wə·‘al- הַגְּבָע֔וֹת the hills , hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ וְתַ֖חַת and under wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ כָּל־ every kāl- רַעֲנָן׃ green ra·ʿă·nå̄n עֵ֥ץ tree . ‘êṣ Deuteronomy 12:3 וְנִתַּצְתֶּ֣ם Tear down wə·nit·taṣ·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מִזְבּחֹתָ֗ם their altars , miz·b·ḥō·ṯå̄m וְשִׁבַּרְתֶּם֙ smash wə·šib·bar·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מַצֵּ֣בֹתָ֔ם their sacred pillars , maṣ·ṣê·ḇō·ṯām תִּשְׂרְפ֣וּן burn up tiś·rə·p̄ūn בָּאֵ֔שׁ . . . bā·’êš וַאֲשֵֽׁרֵיהֶם֙ their Asherah poles , wa·’ă·šê·rê·hem תְּגַדֵּע֑וּן cut down tə·ḡad·dê·‘ūn וּפְסִילֵ֥י the idols ū·p̄ə·sî·lê אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֖ם of their gods , ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem וְאִבַּדְתֶּ֣ם and wipe out wə·’ib·baḏ·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמָ֔ם their names šə·mām מִן־ from min- הַמָּק֖וֹם every place ham·mā·qō·wm הַהֽוּא׃ . . . . ha·hū Deuteronomy 12:4 לֹֽא־ You shall not lō- תַעֲשׂ֣וּן worship ṯa·‘ă·śūn לַיהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem כֵּ֔ן in this way . kên Deuteronomy 12:5 כִּ֠י Instead kî אִֽם־ . . . , ’im- תִדְרְשׁ֖וּ you must seek ṯiḏ·rə·šū אֶל־ - ’el- הַמָּק֞וֹם the place ham·mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem יִבְחַ֨ר will choose yiḇ·ḥar מִכָּל־ from among all mik·kāl שִׁבְטֵיכֶ֔ם your tribes šiḇ·ṭê·ḵem לָשׂ֥וּם to establish lā·śūm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לְשִׁכְנ֥וֹ as a dwelling lə·šiḵ·nōw שְׁמ֖וֹ for His Name , šə·mōw שָׁ֑ם - šām שָֽׁמָּה׃ and there šām·māh וּבָ֥אתָ you must go . ū·ḇā·ṯā
