בַּמֶּ֥ה ‘ How bam·meh בָזִ֖ינוּ have we despised ḇā·zî·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ Your name ? ’ šə·me·ḵā Malachi 1:7 מַגִּישִׁ֤ים By presenting mag·gî·šîm מְגֹאָ֔ל defiled mə·ḡō·’āl לֶ֣חֶם food le·ḥem עַֽל־ on ‘al- מִזְבְּחִי֙ My altar . miz·bə·ḥî וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם But you ask , wa·’ă·mar·tem בַּמֶּ֣ה ‘ How bam·meh גֵֽאַלְנ֑וּךָ have we defiled You ?’ ḡê·’al·nū·ḵā בֶּאֱמָרְכֶ֕ם By saying that be·’ĕ·mā·rə·ḵem שֻׁלְחַ֥ן the table šul·ḥan יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh נִבְזֶ֥ה is contemptible niḇ·zeh הֽוּא׃ . . . . hū Malachi 1:8 וְכִֽי־ When wə·ḵî- תַגִּשׁ֨וּן you offer ṯag·gi·šūn עִוֵּ֤ר blind animals ‘iw·wêr לִזְבֹּ֙חַ֙ for sacrifice , liz·bō·aḥ אֵ֣ין is it not ’ên רָ֔ע wrong ? rā‘ וְכִ֥י And when wə·ḵî תַגִּ֛ישׁוּ you present ṯag·gî·šū פִּסֵּ֥חַ the lame pis·sê·aḥ וְחֹלֶ֖ה and sick [ones] , wə·ḥō·leh אֵ֣ין is it not ’ên רָ֑ע wrong ? rā‘ הַקְרִיבֵ֨הוּ Try offering them haq·rî·ḇê·hū נָ֜א . . . nā לְפֶחָתֶ֗ךָ to your governor ! lə·p̄e·ḥā·ṯe·ḵā הֲיִּרְצְךָ֙ Would he be pleased h·yir·ṣə·ḵå̄ א֚וֹ with you or ’ōw הֲיִשָּׂ֣א show you favor hă·yiś·śā פָנֶ֔יךָ . . . ? ” p̄ā·ne·ḵā אָמַ֖ר asks ’ā·mar יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָאֽוֹת׃ of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Malachi 1:9 וְעַתָּ֛ה “ But {ask} now wə·‘at·tāh אֵ֖ל for God’s ’êl חַלּוּ־ favor ḥal·lū- נָ֥א . . . nā פְנֵי־ . . . . p̄ə·nê- וִֽיחָנֵ֑נוּ Will He be gracious ? wī·ḥå̄·nē·nū זֹּ֔את Since this zōṯ הָ֣יְתָה has come hā·yə·ṯāh מִכֶּם֙ from mik·kem מִיֶּדְכֶם֙ your hands , mî·yeḏ·ḵem הֲיִשָּׂ֤א will He show you favor hă·yiś·śā פָּנִ֔ים . . . ? ” pā·nîm אָמַ֖ר asks ’ā·mar יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָאֽוֹת׃ of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Malachi 1:10 מִ֤י “ Oh , mî גַם־ that one ḡam- בָּכֶם֙ of you bā·ḵem וְיִסְגֹּ֣ר would shut wə·yis·gōr דְּלָתַ֔יִם the temple doors , də·lā·ṯa·yim וְלֹֽא־ so that you would no wə·lō- תָאִ֥ירוּ longer kindle ṯā·’î·rū חִנָּ֑ם useless ḥin·nām מִזְבְּחִ֖י fires on My altar ! miz·bə·ḥî אֵֽין־ I take no ’ên- לִ֨י lî חֵ֜פֶץ pleasure ḥê·p̄eṣ בָּכֶ֗ם in you , ” bā·ḵem אָמַר֙ says ’ā·mar יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֔וֹת of Hosts , ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אֶרְצֶ֥ה “ and I will accept ’er·ṣeh לֹֽא־ no lō- וּמִנְחָ֖ה offering ū·min·ḥāh מִיֶּדְכֶֽם׃ from your hands . mî·yeḏ·ḵem Malachi 1:11 כִּ֣י For kî שְׁמִי֙ My name šə·mî גָּד֤וֹל will be great gā·ḏō·wl בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם among the nations , bag·gō·w·yim מִמִּזְרַח־ from where the sun rises mim·miz·raḥ- וְעַד־ to wə·‘aḏ- מְבוֹא֗וֹ where it sets mə·ḇō·w·’ōw שֶׁ֜מֶשׁ . . . . še·meš וּבְכָל־ In every ū·ḇə·ḵāl מָק֗וֹם place , mā·qō·wm מֻקְטָ֥ר incense muq·ṭār
