הִזַּכּ֔וּ and cleanse yourselves . hiz·zak·kū הָסִ֛ירוּ Remove hā·sî·rū רֹ֥עַ your evil rō·a‘ מַעַלְלֵיכֶ֖ם deeds ma·‘al·lê·ḵem מִנֶּ֣גֶד from min·ne·ḡeḏ עֵינָ֑י My sight . ‘ê·nāy חִדְל֖וּ Stop ḥiḏ·lū הָרֵֽעַ׃ doing evil ! hā·rê·a‘ Isaiah 1:17 לִמְד֥וּ Learn lim·ḏū הֵיטֵ֛ב to do right ; hê·ṭêḇ דִּרְשׁ֥וּ seek dir·šū מִשְׁפָּ֖ט justice miš·pāṭ אַשְּׁר֣וּ [and] correct ’aš·šə·rū חָמ֑וֹץ the oppressor . ḥā·mō·wṣ שִׁפְט֣וּ Defend šip̄·ṭū יָת֔וֹם the fatherless yā·ṯō·wm רִ֖יבוּ [and] plead the case rî·ḇū אַלְמָנָֽה׃ס of the widow . ” ’al·mā·nāh Isaiah 1:18 לְכוּ־ “ Come lə·ḵū- נָ֛א now , nā וְנִוָּֽכְחָ֖ה let us reason together , ” wə·niw·wā·ḵə·ḥāh יֹאמַ֣ר says yō·mar יְהוָ֑ה YHWH . Yah·weh אִם־ “ Though ’im- חֲטָאֵיכֶ֤ם your sins ḥă·ṭā·’ê·ḵem יִֽהְי֨וּ are yih·yū כַּשָּׁנִים֙ like scarlet , kaš·šā·nîm יַלְבִּ֔ינוּ they will be as white yal·bî·nū כַּשֶּׁ֣לֶג as snow ; kaš·še·leḡ אִם־ though ’im- יַאְדִּ֥ימוּ they are as red ya’·dî·mū כַתּוֹלָ֖ע as crimson , ḵat·tō·w·lā‘ יִהְיֽוּ׃ they will become yih·yū כַּצֶּ֥מֶר like wool . kaṣ·ṣe·mer Isaiah 1:19 אִם־ If ’im- תֹּאב֖וּ you are willing tō·ḇū וּשְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם and obedient , ū·šə·ma‘·tem תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ you will eat tō·ḵê·lū ט֥וּב the best ṭūḇ הָאָ֖רֶץ of the land . hā·’ā·reṣ Isaiah 1:20 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- תְּמָאֲנ֖וּ you resist tə·mā·’ă·nū וּמְרִיתֶ֑ם and rebel , ū·mə·rî·ṯem תְּאֻכְּל֔וּ you will be devoured tə·’uk·kə·lū חֶ֣רֶב by the sword . ” ḥe·reḇ כִּ֛י For kî פִּ֥י the mouth pî יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֵּֽר׃ס has spoken . dib·bêr Isaiah 1:21 אֵיכָה֙ [See] how ’ê·ḵāh נֶאֱמָנָ֑ה the faithful ne·’ĕ·mā·nāh מְלֵאֲתִ֣י . . . mə·lê·’ă·ṯî קִרְיָ֖ה city qir·yāh הָיְתָ֣ה has become hā·yə·ṯāh לְזוֹנָ֔ה a harlot ! lə·zō·w·nāh מִשְׁפָּ֗ט She once was full of justice ; miš·pāṭ צֶ֛דֶק righteousness ṣe·ḏeq יָלִ֥ין resided yā·lîn בָּ֖הּ within her , bāh וְעַתָּ֥ה but now only wə·‘at·tāh מְרַצְּחִֽים׃ murderers ! mə·raṣ·ṣə·ḥîm Isaiah 1:22 כַּסְפֵּ֖ךְ Your silver kas·pêḵ הָיָ֣ה has become hā·yāh לְסִיגִ֑ים dross ; lə·sî·ḡîm סָבְאֵ֖ךְ your fine wine sā·ḇə·’êḵ מָה֥וּל is diluted mā·hūl בַּמָּֽיִם׃ with water . bam·mā·yim Isaiah 1:23 שָׂרַ֣יִךְ Your rulers śā·ra·yiḵ סוֹרְרִ֗ים are rebels , sō·wr·rîm וְחַבְרֵי֙ friends wə·ḥaḇ·rê גַּנָּבִ֔ים of thieves . gan·nā·ḇîm כֻּלּוֹ֙ They all kul·lōw אֹהֵ֣ב love ’ō·hêḇ שֹׁ֔חַד bribes šō·ḥaḏ וְרֹדֵ֖ף and chasing after wə·rō·ḏêp̄ שַׁלְמֹנִ֑ים rewards . šal·mō·nîm לֹ֣א They do not lō יִשְׁפֹּ֔טוּ defend yiš·pō·ṭū יָתוֹם֙ the fatherless , yā·ṯō·wm
