וְאַל־ do not wə·’al- תִּ֝קְרַ֗ב go near tiq·raḇ אֶל־ . . . ’el- פֶּ֥תַח the door pe·ṯaḥ בֵּיתָֽהּ׃ of her house , bê·ṯāh Proverbs 5:9 פֶּן־ lest pen- תִּתֵּ֣ן you concede tit·tên הוֹדֶ֑ךָ your vigor hō·w·ḏe·ḵā לַאֲחֵרִ֣ים to others , la·’ă·ḥê·rîm וּ֝שְׁנֹתֶ֗יךָ and your years ū·šə·nō·ṯe·ḵā לְאַכְזָרִֽי׃ to one who is cruel ; lə·’aḵ·zā·rî Proverbs 5:10 פֶּֽן־ lest pen- זָרִ֣ים strangers zā·rîm יִשְׂבְּע֣וּ feast yiś·bə·‘ū כֹּחֶ֑ךָ on your wealth , kō·ḥe·ḵā וַ֝עֲצָבֶ֗יךָ and your labors wa·‘ă·ṣā·ḇe·ḵā בְּבֵ֣ית [enrich] the house bə·ḇêṯ נָכְרִֽי׃ of a foreigner . nā·ḵə·rî Proverbs 5:11 בְאַחֲרִיתֶ֑ךָ At the end of your life ḇə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯe·ḵā וְנָהַמְתָּ֥ you will groan wə·nā·ham·tā בְּ֝שָׂרְךָ֗ when your flesh bə·śā·rə·ḵā וּשְׁאֵרֶֽךָ׃ and your body ū·šə·’ê·re·ḵā בִּכְל֥וֹת are spent , biḵ·lō·wṯ Proverbs 5:12 וְֽאָמַרְתָּ֗ and you will say , wə·’ā·mar·tā אֵ֭יךְ “ How ’êḵ שָׂנֵ֣אתִי I hated śā·nê·ṯî מוּסָ֑ר discipline , mū·sār לִבִּֽי׃ and my heart lib·bî נָאַ֥ץ despised nā·’aṣ וְ֝תוֹכַ֗חַת reproof ! wə·ṯō·w·ḵa·ḥaṯ Proverbs 5:13 וְֽלֹא־ I did not wə·lō·šā- שָׁ֭מַעְתִּי listen ma‘·tî בְּק֣וֹל to the voice bə·qō·wl מוֹרָ֑י of my teachers mō·w·rāy לֹא־ [or] lō- הִטִּ֥יתִי incline hiṭ·ṭî·ṯî אָזְנִֽי׃ my ear ’ā·zə·nî וְ֝לִֽמְלַמְּדַ֗י to my mentors . wə·lim·lam·mə·ḏay Proverbs 5:14 הָיִ֣יתִי I am hā·yî·ṯî כִּ֭מְעַט on the brink kim·‘aṭ בְכָל־ of utter ḇə·ḵāl- רָ֑ע ruin rā‘ בְּת֖וֹךְ in the midst bə·ṯō·wḵ קָהָ֣ל of the whole assembly qā·hāl וְעֵדָֽה׃ . . . . ” wə·‘ê·ḏāh Proverbs 5:15 שְׁתֵה־ Drink šə·ṯêh- מַ֥יִם water ma·yim מִבּוֹרֶ֑ךָ from your own cistern , mib·bō·w·re·ḵā וְ֝נֹזְלִ֗ים and running water wə·nō·zə·lîm מִתּ֥וֹךְ from mit·tō·wḵ בְּאֵרֶֽךָ׃ your own well . bə·’ê·re·ḵā Proverbs 5:16 מַעְיְנֹתֶ֣יךָ Why should your springs ma‘·yə·nō·ṯe·ḵā יָפ֣וּצוּ flow yā·p̄ū·ṣū ח֑וּצָה in the streets , ḥū·ṣāh פַּלְגֵי־ your streams pal·ḡê- מָֽיִם׃ of water mā·yim בָּ֝רְחֹב֗וֹת in the public squares ? bā·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ Proverbs 5:17 יִֽהְיוּ־ Let them be yih·yū- לְךָ֥ yours lə·ḵā לְבַדֶּ֑ךָ alone , lə·ḇad·de·ḵā וְאֵ֖ין never wə·’ên אִתָּֽךְ׃ to be shared ’it·tāḵ לְזָרִ֣ים with strangers . lə·zā·rîm Proverbs 5:18 מְקוֹרְךָ֥ May your fountain mə·qō·wr·ḵā יְהִֽי־ be yə·hî- בָר֑וּךְ blessed , ḇā·rūḵ וּ֝שְׂמַ֗ח and may you rejoice ū·śə·maḥ מֵאֵ֥שֶׁת in the wife mê·’ê·šeṯ נְעוּרֶֽךָ׃ of your youth : nə·‘ū·re·ḵā
