וְלֹֽא־ refused wə·lō- אָבָ֤ה . . . ’ā·ḇāh לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔ם to drink it ; liš·tō·w·ṯām וַיְנַסֵּ֥ךְ instead , he poured it out way·nas·sêḵ אֹתָ֖ם - ’ō·ṯām לַיהוָֽה׃ to YHWH , Yah·weh 1 Chronicles 11:19 וַיֹּ֡אמֶר saying , way·yō·mer חָלִילָה֩ “ Far be it ḥā·lî·lāh לִּ֨י from me , lî מֵאֱלֹהַ֜י my God , mê·’ĕ·lō·hay מֵעֲשׂ֣וֹת to do mê·‘ă·śō·wṯ זֹ֗את this ! zōṯ אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה How can I drink ’eš·teh הֲדַ֣ם the blood hă·ḏam הָאֵ֨לֶּה of these hā·’êl·leh הָאֲנָשִׁים֩ men hā·’ă·nā·šîm בְנַפְשׁוֹתָם֙ who risked their lives ? ” ḇə·nap̄·šō·w·ṯām כִּ֣י Because kî הֱבִיא֔וּם they had brought it hĕ·ḇî·’ūm בְנַפְשׁוֹתָ֣ם at the risk of their lives , ḇə·nap̄·šō·w·ṯām אָבָ֖ה [David] refused ’ā·ḇāh וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם to drink it . liš·tō·w·ṯām אֵ֣לֶּה Such ’êl·leh עָשׂ֔וּ were the exploits ‘ā·śū שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת of the three šə·lō·šeṯ הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃ mighty men . hag·gib·bō·w·rîm 1 Chronicles 11:20 וְאַבְשַׁ֣י Now Abishai , wə·’aḇ·šay אֲחִֽי־ the brother ’ă·ḥî- יוֹאָ֗ב of Joab , yō·w·’āḇ הָיָה֙ was hā·yāh רֹ֣אשׁ chief rōš הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֔ה of the Three , haš·šə·lō·wō·šāh וְהוּא֙ . . . wə·hū ה֤וּא and he hū עוֹרֵ֣ר lifted ‘ō·w·rêr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חֲנִית֔וֹ his spear ḥă·nî·ṯōw עַל־ against ‘al- שְׁלֹ֥שׁ three šə·lōš מֵא֖וֹת hundred [men] , mê·’ō·wṯ חָלָ֑ל killed [them] , ḥā·lāl וְלֹא and won wə·lō שֵׁ֖ם a name šêm בַּשְּׁלוֹשָֽׁה׃ along with [the] Three . baš·šə·lō·wō·šāh 1 Chronicles 11:21 בַשְּׁנַ֙יִם֙ He was doubly ḇaš·šə·na·yim נִכְבָּ֔ד honored niḵ·bāḏ מִן־ above min- הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֤ה the Three , haš·šə·lō·wō·šāh וַיְהִ֥י and he became way·hî לָהֶ֖ם their lā·hem לְשָׂ֑ר commander , lə·śār וְעַד־ . . . wə·‘aḏ- לֹֽא־ even though he was not lō- בָֽא׃ס included ḇā הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה among the Three . haš·šə·lō·wō·šāh 1 Chronicles 11:22 בְּנָיָ֨ה And Benaiah bə·nā·yāh בֶן־ son ḇen- יְהוֹיָדָ֧ע of Jehoiada yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘ בֶּן־ vvv ben- אִֽישׁ־ was a man ’îš- חַ֛יִל of valor ḥa·yil מִֽן־ from min- קַבְצְאֵ֑ל Kabzeel , qaḇ·ṣə·’êl רַב־ a man of many raḇ- פְּעָלִ֖ים exploits . pə·‘ā·lîm ה֣וּא [He] hū הִכָּ֗ה struck down hik·kāh אֵ֣ת - ’êṯ שְׁנֵ֤י two šə·nê אֲרִיאֵל֙ champions ’ă·rî·’êl מוֹאָ֔ב of Moab , mō·w·’āḇ הַשָּֽׁלֶג׃ and on a snowy haš·šā·leḡ בְּי֥וֹם day bə·yō·wm וְ֠הוּא he wə·hū יָרַ֞ד went down yā·raḏ בְּת֥וֹךְ into bə·ṯō·wḵ הַבּ֖וֹר a pit hab·bō·wr וְהִכָּ֧ה and killed wə·hik·kāh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- הָאֲרִ֛י a lion . hā·’ă·rî 1 Chronicles 11:23 וְהֽוּא־ He wə·hū- הִכָּה֩ also killed hik·kāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאִ֨ישׁ - hā·’îš
