שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם the two of them , šə·nê·hem אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ and Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū וַיַּ֙עַל֙ went up way·ya·‘al הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ into heaven haš·šā·mā·yim בַּֽסְעָרָ֖ה in a whirlwind . bas·sə·‘ā·rāh 2 Kings 2:12 וֶאֱלִישָׁ֣ע As Elisha we·’ĕ·lî·šā‘ רֹאֶ֗ה watched , rō·’eh וְה֤וּא he wə·hū מְצַעֵק֙ cried out , mə·ṣa·‘êq אָבִ֣י׀ “ My father , ’ā·ḇî אָבִ֗י my father , ’ā·ḇî רֶ֤כֶב the chariots re·ḵeḇ וּפָ֣רָשָׁ֔יו and horsemen ū·p̄ā·rā·šāw יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel ! ” yiś·rā·’êl רָאָ֖הוּ And he saw [Elijah] rā·’ā·hū וְלֹ֥א no wə·lō ע֑וֹד more . ‘ō·wḏ וַֽיַּחֲזֵק֙ So taking hold way·ya·ḥă·zêq בִּבְגָדָ֔יו of his own clothes , biḇ·ḡā·ḏāw וַיִּקְרָעֵ֖ם he tore them way·yiq·rā·‘êm לִשְׁנַ֥יִם in two liš·na·yim קְרָעִֽים׃ . . . . qə·rā·‘îm 2 Kings 2:13 וַיָּ֙רֶם֙ Elisha also picked up way·yā·rem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַדֶּ֣רֶת the cloak ’ad·de·reṯ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer נָפְלָ֖ה had fallen nā·p̄ə·lāh מֵעָלָ֑יו from mê·‘ā·lāw אֵלִיָּ֔הוּ Elijah , ’ê·lî·yā·hū וַיָּ֥שָׁב and he went back way·yā·šāḇ וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד and stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ עַל־ on ‘al- שְׂפַ֥ת the bank śə·p̄aṯ הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ of the Jordan . hay·yar·dên 2 Kings 2:14 וַיִּקַּח֩ Then he took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַדֶּ֨רֶת the cloak ’ad·de·reṯ אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ of Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- נָפְלָ֤ה had fallen nā·p̄ə·lāh מֵֽעָלָיו֙ from him mê·‘ā·lāw וַיַּכֶּ֣ה and struck way·yak·keh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמַּ֔יִם the waters . ham·ma·yim אַיֵּ֕ה “ Where now [is] ’ay·yêh יְהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ of Elijah ? ” ’ê·lî·yā·hū אַף־ . . . ’ap̄- וַיֹּאמַ֕ר he asked . way·yō·mar וַיַּכֶּ֣ה And when he had struck way·yak·keh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמַּ֗יִם the waters ham·ma·yim ה֣וּא׀ - , hū וַיֵּֽחָצוּ֙ they parted way·yê·ḥā·ṣū הֵ֣נָּה to the right hên·nāh וָהֵ֔נָּה and to the left , wā·hên·nāh אֱלִישָֽׁע׃ and Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר crossed over . way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr 2 Kings 2:15 בְנֵֽי־ When the sons ḇə·nê- הַנְּבִיאִ֤ים of the prophets han·nə·ḇî·’îm אֲשֶׁר־ who [were] ’ă·šer- מִנֶּ֔גֶד facing him min·ne·ḡeḏ בִּֽירִיחוֹ֙ from Jericho bî·rî·ḥōw וַיִּרְאֻ֨הוּ saw what had happened , way·yir·’u·hū וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ they said , way·yō·mə·rū ר֥וּחַ “ The spirit rū·aḥ אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ of Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū נָ֛חָה rests nā·ḥāh עַל־ on ‘al- אֱלִישָׁ֑ע Elisha . ” ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ And they went way·yā·ḇō·’ū לִקְרָאת֔וֹ to meet him liq·rā·ṯōw וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־ and bowed down way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū- אָֽרְצָה׃ to the ground ’ā·rə·ṣāh ל֖וֹ before him . lōw 2 Kings 2:16 הִנֵּה־ “ Look hin·nêh- נָ֣א now , ” nā וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ they said way·yō·mə·rū אֵלָ֡יו to Elisha , ’ê·lāw עֲבָדֶיךָ֩ “ we your servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā יֵֽשׁ־ have yêš- חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים fifty ḥă·miš·šîm חַ֗יִל valiant ḥa·yil אֲנָשִׁ֜ים men ’ă·nā·šîm
