שְׁלָחַ֣נִי has sent me šə·lā·ḥa·nî הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה on to the Jordan . ” hay·yar·dê·nāh וַיֹּ֕אמֶר But Elisha replied , way·yō·mer יְהוָ֥ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives ḥay- נַפְשְׁךָ֖ and as you nap̄·šə·ḵā וְחֵֽי־ yourself live , wə·ḥê- אִם־ I will not ’im- אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ leave you . ” ’e·‘ez·ḇe·kā שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃ So the two of them šə·nê·hem וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ went on . way·yê·lə·ḵū 2 Kings 2:7 אִ֜ישׁ Then a company ’îš וַחֲמִשִּׁ֨ים of fifty wa·ḥă·miš·šîm מִבְּנֵ֤י of the sons mib·bə·nê הַנְּבִיאִים֙ of the prophets han·nə·ḇî·’îm הָֽלְכ֔וּ went hā·lə·ḵū וַיַּעַמְד֥וּ and stood way·ya·‘am·ḏū מִנֶּ֖גֶד at a distance , min·ne·ḡeḏ מֵרָח֑וֹק facing [Elijah and Elisha] mê·rā·ḥō·wq וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם as the two ū·šə·nê·hem עָמְד֥וּ of them stood ‘ā·mə·ḏū עַל־ by ‘al- הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ the Jordan . hay·yar·dên 2 Kings 2:8 אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ And Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּקַּח֩ took way·yiq·qaḥ אַדַּרְתּ֤וֹ his cloak , ’ad·dar·tōw וַיִּגְלֹם֙ rolled it up , way·yiḡ·lōm וַיַּכֶּ֣ה and struck way·yak·keh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמַּ֔יִם the waters , ham·ma·yim וַיֵּחָצ֖וּ which parted way·yê·ḥā·ṣū הֵ֣נָּה to the right hên·nāh וָהֵ֑נָּה and to the left , wā·hên·nāh שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם so that the two šə·nê·hem וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ of them crossed over way·ya·‘aḇ·rū בֶּחָרָבָֽה׃ on dry ground . be·ḥā·rā·ḇāh 2 Kings 2:9 וַיְהִ֣י After way·hî כְעָבְרָ֗ם they had crossed over , ḵə·‘ā·ḇə·rām וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ Elijah wə·’ê·lî·yā·hū אָמַ֤ר said ’ā·mar אֶל־ to ’el- אֱלִישָׁע֙ Elisha , ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ שְׁאַל֙ “ Tell me , šə·’al מָ֣ה what māh אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ can I do ’e·‘ĕ·śeh- לָּ֔ךְ for you lāḵ בְּטֶ֖רֶם before bə·ṭe·rem אֶלָּקַ֣ח I am taken away ’el·lā·qaḥ מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ from you ? ” mê·‘im·māḵ נָ֛א “ Please , nā וִֽיהִי־ let me wî·hî- אֵלָֽי׃ inherit ’ê·lāy שְׁנַ֥יִם a double šə·na·yim פִּֽי־ portion pî- בְּרוּחֲךָ֖ of your spirit , ” bə·rū·ḥă·ḵā אֱלִישָׁ֔ע Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied . way·yō·mer 2 Kings 2:10 לִשְׁא֑וֹל “ You have requested liš·’ō·wl הִקְשִׁ֣יתָ a difficult thing , ” hiq·šî·ṯā וַיֹּ֖אמֶר said Elijah . way·yō·mer אִם־ “ [Nevertheless,] if ’im- תִּרְאֶ֨ה you see tir·’eh אֹתִ֜י me ’ō·ṯî לֻקָּ֤ח as I am taken luq·qāḥ מֵֽאִתָּךְ֙ from you , mê·’it·tāḵ יְהִֽי־ it will be yə·hî- לְךָ֣ yours . lə·ḵā כֵ֔ן . . . ḵên וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- אַ֖יִן not , ’a·yin לֹ֥א then it will not lō יִהְיֶֽה׃ be [so] . ” yih·yeh 2 Kings 2:11 וַיְהִ֗י - way·hî הֵ֣מָּה As they hêm·māh הֹלְכִ֤ים were walking along hō·lə·ḵîm הָלוֹךְ֙ . . . hā·lō·wḵ וְדַבֵּ֔ר and talking together , wə·ḏab·bêr וְהִנֵּ֤ה suddenly wə·hin·nêh רֶֽכֶב־ a chariot re·ḵeḇ- אֵשׁ֙ of fire ’êš וְס֣וּסֵי with horses wə·sū·sê אֵ֔שׁ of fire ’êš וַיַּפְרִ֖דוּ appeared and separated way·yap̄·ri·ḏū בֵּ֣ין . . . bên
