1 Samuel 8:9 וְעַתָּ֖ה Now wə·‘at·tāh שְׁמַ֣ע listen to them , šə·ma‘ בְּקוֹלָ֑ם . . . bə·qō·w·lām אַ֗ךְ but ’aḵ כִּֽי־ . . . kî- הָעֵ֤ד you must solemnly warn hā·‘êḏ תָּעִיד֙ . . . tā·‘îḏ בָּהֶ֔ם them bā·hem וְהִגַּדְתָּ֣ and show wə·hig·gaḏ·tā לָהֶ֔ם them lā·hem מִשְׁפַּ֣ט the manner miš·paṭ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the king ham·me·leḵ אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer יִמְלֹ֖ךְ will reign yim·lōḵ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ס over them .” ‘ă·lê·hem 1 Samuel 8:10 שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל So Samuel šə·mū·’êl אֵ֖ת ’êṯ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר spoke way·yō·mer כָּל־ all kāl- דִּבְרֵ֣י the words diḇ·rê יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH Yah·weh אֶל־ to ’el- הָעָ֕ם the people hā·‘ām הַשֹּׁאֲלִ֥ים who were asking him for haš·šō·’ă·lîm מֵאִתּ֖וֹ . . . mê·’it·tōw מֶֽלֶךְ׃ס a king . me·leḵ 1 Samuel 8:11 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר He said , way·yō·mer זֶ֗ה “ This zeh יִֽהְיֶה֙ will be yih·yeh מִשְׁפַּ֣ט the manner miš·paṭ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the king ham·me·leḵ אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer יִמְלֹ֖ךְ will reign yim·lōḵ עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם over you : ‘ă·lê·ḵem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִקָּ֗ח He will take yiq·qāḥ בְּנֵיכֶ֣ם your sons bə·nê·ḵem וְשָׂ֥ם and appoint [them] wə·śām לוֹ֙ to lōw בְּמֶרְכַּבְתּ֣וֹ his own chariots bə·mer·kaḇ·tōw וּבְפָרָשָׁ֔יו and horses , ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šāw וְרָצ֖וּ to run wə·rā·ṣū לִפְנֵ֥י in front of lip̄·nê מֶרְכַּבְתּֽוֹ׃ his chariots . mer·kaḇ·tōw 1 Samuel 8:12 וְלָשׂ֣וּם He will appoint wə·lā·śūm ל֔וֹ some for himself lōw שָׂרֵ֥י as commanders śā·rê אֲלָפִ֖ים of thousands ’ă·lā·p̄îm וְשָׂרֵ֣י and of wə·śā·rê חֲמִשִּׁ֑ים fifties , ḥă·miš·šîm וְלַחֲרֹ֤שׁ and others to plow wə·la·ḥă·rōš חֲרִישׁוֹ֙ his ground , ḥă·rî·šōw וְלִקְצֹ֣ר to reap wə·liq·ṣōr קְצִיר֔וֹ his harvest , qə·ṣî·rōw וְלַעֲשׂ֥וֹת to make wə·la·‘ă·śō·wṯ כְּלֵֽי־ his weapons kə·lê- מִלְחַמְתּ֖וֹ of war , mil·ḥam·tōw וּכְלֵ֥י and to equip ū·ḵə·lê רִכְבּֽוֹ׃ his chariots . riḵ·bōw 1 Samuel 8:13 וְאֶת־ And wə·’eṯ- יִקָּ֑ח he will take yiq·qāḥ בְּנוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם your daughters bə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem לְרַקָּח֥וֹת [to be] perfumers , lə·raq·qā·ḥō·wṯ וּלְטַבָּח֖וֹת cooks , ū·lə·ṭab·bā·ḥō·wṯ וּלְאֹפֽוֹת׃ and bakers . ū·lə·’ō·p̄ō·wṯ 1 Samuel 8:14 וְאֶת־ - wə·’e·ṯś- יִקָּ֑ח He will take yiq·qāḥ הַטּוֹבִ֖ים the best haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇîm שְׂ֠דֽוֹתֵיכֶם of your fields ḏō·w·ṯê·ḵem וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- כַּרְמֵיכֶ֧ם vineyards kar·mê·ḵem וְזֵיתֵיכֶ֛ם and olive groves wə·zê·ṯê·ḵem וְנָתַ֖ן and give them wə·nā·ṯan לַעֲבָדָֽיו׃ to his servants . la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw 1 Samuel 8:15 יַעְשֹׂ֑ר He will take a tenth ya‘·śōr וְזַרְעֵיכֶ֥ם of your grain wə·zar·‘ê·ḵem וְכַרְמֵיכֶ֖ם and grape harvest wə·ḵar·mê·ḵem וְנָתַ֥ן and give it wə·nā·ṯan לְסָרִיסָ֖יו to his officials lə·sā·rî·sāw
