וַתִּקְרָ֤א She named wat·tiq·rā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמוֹ֙ him šə·mōw שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל Samuel , šə·mū·’êl כִּ֥י [saying,] “Because kî שְׁאִלְתִּֽיו׃ I have asked for him šə·’il·tîw מֵיְהוָ֖ה from YHWH .” Yah·weh 1 Samuel 1:21 אֶלְקָנָ֖ה Then Elkanah ’el·qā·nāh וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl בֵּית֑וֹ his house bê·ṯōw וַיַּ֛עַל went up way·ya·‘al הָאִ֥ישׁ . . . hā·’îš לִזְבֹּ֧חַ to make liz·bō·aḥ הַיָּמִ֖ים the annual hay·yā·mîm זֶ֥בַח sacrifice ze·ḇaḥ לַֽיהוָ֛ה to YHWH Yah·weh וְאֶת־ and [to fulfill] wə·’eṯ- נִדְרֽוֹ׃ his vow , niḏ·rōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- 1 Samuel 1:22 וְחַנָּ֖ה but Hannah wə·ḥan·nāh לֹ֣א did not lō עָלָ֑תָה go . ‘ā·lā·ṯāh כִּֽי־ - kî- עַ֣ד “ After ‘aḏ הַנַּ֙עַר֙ the boy han·na·‘ar יִגָּמֵ֤ל is weaned , ” yig·gā·mêl אָמְרָ֣ה she said ’ā·mə·rāh לְאִישָׁ֗הּ to her husband , lə·’î·šāh וַהֲבִאֹתִ֗יו “ I will take him wa·hă·ḇi·’ō·ṯîw וְנִרְאָה֙ to appear wə·nir·’āh אֶת־ . . . ’eṯ- פְּנֵ֣י before pə·nê יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh וְיָ֥שַׁב and to stay wə·yā·šaḇ שָׁ֖ם there šām עַד־ permanently ‘aḏ- עוֹלָֽם׃ . . . . ” ‘ō·w·lām 1 Samuel 1:23 עֲשִׂ֧י “ Do ‘ă·śî בְּעֵינַ֗יִךְ what you think bə·‘ê·na·yiḵ הַטּ֣וֹב is best , ” haṭ·ṭō·wḇ אִישָׁ֜הּ her husband ’î·šāh אֶלְקָנָ֨ה Elkanah ’el·qā·nāh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied way·yō·mer לָהּ֩ , lāh שְׁבִי֙ “ and stay šə·ḇî עַד־ here until ‘aḏ- גָּמְלֵ֣ךְ you have weaned him . gā·mə·lêḵ אֹת֔וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw אַ֛ךְ Only ’aḵ יְהוָ֖ה may YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָקֵ֥ם confirm yā·qêm דְּבָר֑וֹ His word .” də·ḇā·rōw הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ So Hannah hā·’iš·šāh וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב stayed wat·tê·šeḇ וַתֵּ֣ינֶק and nursed wat·tê·neq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנָ֔הּ her son bə·nāh עַד־ until ‘aḏ- גָּמְלָ֖הּ she had weaned ḡā·mə·lāh אֹתֽוֹ׃ him . ’ō·ṯōw 1 Samuel 1:24 כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר Once ka·’ă·šer גְּמָלַ֗תּוּ she had weaned him , gə·mā·lat·tū וַתַּעֲלֵ֨הוּ [Hannah] took [the boy] wat·ta·‘ă·lê·hū עִמָּ֜הּ with her , ‘im·māh שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ along with a three-year-old šə·lō·šāh בְּפָרִ֤ים bull , bə·p̄ā·rîm וְאֵיפָ֨ה an ephah wə·’ê·p̄āh אַחַ֥ת . . . ’a·ḥaṯ קֶ֙מַח֙ of flour , qe·maḥ וְנֵ֣בֶל and a skin wə·nê·ḇel יַ֔יִן of wine . ya·yin וְהַנַּ֖עַר Though the boy wə·han·na·‘ar נָֽעַר׃ was still young , nā·‘ar וַתְּבִאֵ֥הוּ she brought him wat·tə·ḇi·’ê·hū בֵית־ to the house ḇêṯ- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh שִׁל֑וֹ at Shiloh . ši·lōw 1 Samuel 1:25 וַֽיִּשְׁחֲט֖וּ And when they had slaughtered way·yiš·ḥă·ṭū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַפָּ֑ר the bull , hap·pār וַיָּבִ֥יאוּ they brought way·yā·ḇî·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַנַּ֖עַר the boy han·na·‘ar אֶל־ to ’el-
