Numbers 3:38 מֹשֶׁ֣ה׀ Moses , mō·šeh וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן Aaron , wə·’a·hă·rōn וּבָנָ֗יו and [Aaron’s sons] ū·ḇā·nāw וְהַחֹנִ֣ים were to camp wə·ha·ḥō·nîm קֵ֣דְמָה to the east qê·ḏə·māh לִפְנֵ֣י lip̄·nê הַמִּשְׁכָּ֡ן of the tabernacle , ham·miš·kān מִזְרָ֜חָה toward the sunrise , miz·rā·ḥāh לִפְנֵי֩ before lip̄·nê אֹֽהֶל־ the Tent ’ō·hel- מוֹעֵ֨ד׀ of Meeting . mō·w·‘êḏ שֹֽׁמְרִים֙ They were to perform šō·mə·rîm מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת the duties miš·me·reṯ הַמִּקְדָּ֔שׁ of the sanctuary ham·miq·dāš לְמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת as a service lə·miš·me·reṯ בְּנֵ֣י vvv bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל on behalf of the Israelites ; yiś·rā·’êl וְהַזָּ֥ר but any outsider wə·haz·zār הַקָּרֵ֖ב who approached [the sanctuary] haq·qā·rêḇ יוּמָֽת׃ was to be put to death . yū·māṯ Numbers 3:39 כָּל־ The total kāl- פְּקוּדֵ֨י number pə·qū·ḏê הַלְוִיִּ֜ם of Levites hal·wî·yim אֲשֶׁר֩ that ’ă·šer מֹשֶׁ֧ה Moses mō·šeh וְׄאַׄהֲׄרֹ֛ׄןׄ and Aaron wə·ʾa·hă·rōn פָּקַ֨ד counted pā·qaḏ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם by their clans lə·miš·pə·ḥō·ṯām עַל־ at ‘al- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH’s Yah·weh פִּ֥י command , pî כָּל־ including all kāl- זָכָר֙ the males zā·ḵār חֹ֣דֶשׁ a month ḥō·ḏeš מִבֶּן־ old mib·ben- וָמַ֔עְלָה or more , wā·ma‘·lāh שְׁנַ֥יִם was 22,000 šə·na·yim וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים . . . wə·‘eś·rîm אָֽלֶף׃ס . . . . ’ā·lep̄ Numbers 3:40 יְהוָ֜ה Then YHWH Yah·weh אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer מֹשֶׁ֗ה to Moses , mō·šeh פְּקֹ֨ד “ Number pə·qōḏ כָּל־ every kāl- בְּכֹ֤ר firstborn bə·ḵōr זָכָר֙ male zā·ḵār לִבְנֵ֣י vvv liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of the Israelites yiś·rā·’êl חֹ֖דֶשׁ a month ḥō·ḏeš מִבֶּן־ old mib·ben- וָמָ֑עְלָה or more , wā·mā·‘ə·lāh וְשָׂ֕א and list wə·śā אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ מִסְפַּ֥ר - mis·par שְׁמֹתָֽם׃ their names . šə·mō·ṯām Numbers 3:41 וְלָקַחְתָּ֨ You are to take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַלְוִיִּ֥ם the Levites hal·wî·yim לִי֙ for Me — lî אֲנִ֣י I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֔ה am YHWH — Yah·weh תַּ֥חַת in place of ta·ḥaṯ כָּל־ all kāl- בְּכֹ֖ר the firstborn bə·ḵōr בִּבְנֵ֣י vvv biḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וְאֵת֙ - wə·’êṯ בֶּהֱמַ֣ת and the livestock be·hĕ·maṯ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם of the Levites hal·wî·yim תַּ֣חַת in place of ta·ḥaṯ כָּל־ all kāl- בְּכ֔וֹר the firstborn bə·ḵō·wr בְּבֶהֱמַ֖ת of the livestock bə·ḇe·hĕ·maṯ בְּנֵ֥י vvv bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of the Israelites . ” yiś·rā·’êl Numbers 3:42 מֹשֶׁ֔ה So Moses mō·šeh וַיִּפְקֹ֣ד numbered way·yip̄·qōḏ כָּל־ all kāl- בְּכֹ֖ר the firstborn bə·ḵōr בִּבְנֵ֥י vvv biḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of the Israelites , yiś·rā·’êl כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh צִוָּ֥ה had commanded ṣiw·wāh אֹת֑וֹ him . ’ō·ṯōw
