אֲבִ֖י and the father ’ă·ḇî בֵּ֥ית vvv bêṯ לָֽחֶם׃ of Bethlehem . lā·ḥem 1 Chronicles 4:5 וּלְאַשְׁחוּר֙ Ashhur ū·lə·’aš·ḥūr אֲבִ֣י the father of ’ă·ḇî תְק֔וֹעַ Tekoa ṯə·qō·w·a‘ הָי֖וּ had hā·yū שְׁתֵּ֣י two šə·tê נָשִׁ֑ים wives , nā·šîm חֶלְאָ֖ה Helah ḥel·’āh וְנַעֲרָֽה׃ and Naarah . wə·na·‘ă·rāh 1 Chronicles 4:6 נַעֲרָה֙ Naarah na·‘ă·rāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַתֵּ֨לֶד bore wat·tê·leḏ ל֤וֹ to him lōw אֲחֻזָּ֣ם Ahuzzam , ’ă·ḥuz·zām וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- חֵ֔פֶר Hepher , ḥê·p̄er וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- תֵּימְנִ֖י Temeni , tê·mə·nî וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָאֲחַשְׁתָּרִ֑י and Haahashtari . hā·’ă·ḥaš·tā·rî אֵ֖לֶּה These ’êl·leh בְּנֵ֥י were the descendants bə·nê נַעֲרָֽה׃ of Naarah . na·‘ă·rāh 1 Chronicles 4:7 וּבְנֵ֖י The sons ū·ḇə·nê חֶלְאָ֑ה of Helah ḥel·’āh צֶ֥רֶת [were] Zereth , ṣe·reṯ יִצְחָר Zohar , yiṣ·ḥå̄r וְאֶתְנָֽן׃ Ethnan , wə·’eṯ·nān 1 Chronicles 4:8 וְק֣וֹץ and Koz , wə·qō·wṣ הוֹלִ֔יד who was the father of hō·w·lîḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עָנ֖וּב Anub ‘ā·nūḇ וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- הַצֹּבֵבָ֑ה Zobebah haṣ·ṣō·ḇê·ḇāh וּמִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת and of the clans ū·miš·pə·ḥō·wṯ אֲחַרְחֵ֖ל of Aharhel ’ă·ḥar·ḥêl בֶּן־ son ben- הָרֽוּם׃ of Harum . hā·rūm 1 Chronicles 4:9 יַעְבֵּ֔ץ Now Jabez ya‘·bêṣ וַיְהִ֣י was way·hî נִכְבָּ֖ד more honorable niḵ·bāḏ מֵאֶחָ֑יו than his brothers . mê·’e·ḥāw וְאִמּ֗וֹ His mother wə·’im·mōw קָרְאָ֨ה had named him qā·rə·’āh שְׁמ֤וֹ . . . šə·mōw יַעְבֵּץ֙ Jabez , ya‘·bêṣ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr כִּ֥י “ Because kî יָלַ֖דְתִּי I bore [him] yā·laḏ·tî בְּעֹֽצֶב׃ in pain . ” bə·‘ō·ṣeḇ 1 Chronicles 4:10 יַ֠עְבֵּץ And Jabez ya‘·bêṣ וַיִּקְרָ֣א called out way·yiq·rā לֵאלֹהֵ֨י to the God lê·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl לֵאמֹ֗ר . . . , lê·mōr אִם־ “ If only ’im- בָּרֵ֨ךְ You would bless me bā·rêḵ תְּבָרֲכֵ֜נִי . . . tə·ḇā·ră·ḵê·nî וְהִרְבִּ֤יתָ and enlarge wə·hir·bî·ṯā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- גְּבוּלִי֙ my territory ! gə·ḇū·lî יָדְךָ֙ May Your hand yā·ḏə·ḵā וְהָיְתָ֤ה be wə·hā·yə·ṯāh עִמִּ֔י with me ‘im·mî וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ and keep me wə·‘ā·śî·ṯā מֵּרָעָ֖ה from harm , mê·rā·‘āh לְבִלְתִּ֣י so that I will be free lə·ḇil·tî עָצְבִּ֑י from pain . ” ‘ā·ṣə·bî אֱלֹהִ֖ים And God ’ĕ·lō·hîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- וַיָּבֵ֥א granted way·yā·ḇê שָׁאָֽל׃ the request šā·’āl אֵ֥ת of [Jabez] . ’êṯ 1 Chronicles 4:11 וּכְל֥וּב Chelub ū·ḵə·lūḇ אֲחִֽי־ the brother ’ă·ḥî- שׁוּחָ֖ה of Shuhah šū·ḥāh הוֹלִ֣יד was the father of hō·w·lîḏ
